Besant Arundale Senior Secondary organised an activity of heritage club "know your city" competition for the middle school level. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity. The students came up with creative ideas by building and displaying the rich heritage and culture of their city.
Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad celebrated World Environment week on the 17th December and also observed Disability Day on 3rd December 2018 with great Zeal and enthusiasm.
The assembly commenced with a prayer, followed by news and thought. Then the students showcased a beautiful touching video of a physically disabled kid and how he also had aspirations and dreams to fulfill. It also showed that though they're different, they're not weak. A street play (Nukkad Natak) was also performed by the students which showed that we should not sympathise with the differently-abled but consider them equals and give them equal opportunities to excel in professional and social life.
The celebration of world environment week provided an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment. Power point presentation and videos along with a skit was presented depicting the plight of environment caused by pollution and the idea is to bring environmental issues to life. The PPT presentation was given which included the initiative to sensitize the students about the prevailing condition of our environment and make them aware to conserve the Earth’s natural resources and protect ecosystems from destruction. By taking steps to reduce your energy intake, how they can contribute to a healthier and happier world. It was concluded with an energetic dance performance on preserving the environment by the students in order to depict that the preservation and enhancement of the environment, with a view to deepening environmental awareness and to pursuing the determination to conserve our environment.
The onset of winter month brought with it the charm of celebration. Several activities were conducted throughout the month for classes III, IV and V such as Joy of Giving, National Energy Conservation Day, National Farmers Day/ Kisan Diwas, Indian Armed Forces Day, Geeta Jayanti and International Human Rights Day.
To venerate the Joy of Giving and inspired the children to do their part to support the needy and take forward the age old tradition of serving humanity, Children made a gift box to give to their loved ones and needy children all around the world. National Energy Conservation Day and National Farmers Day/ Kisan Diwas were celebrated where the students discussed the difference between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and why we need to conserve it. They learnt about the different sources of renewable energy which can be used as an alternative to save energy and also made posters showing renewable sources of energy. The students made a beautiful drawing to thank the farmers for their hard work. Indian Armed Forces Day was discussed to commemorate the enforcement of our armed forces day. Students were shown videos on power and sacrifice of Indian army. They drew the flag and wrote about the significance of colours of the army Flag of India. They made poster on the Unity in Diversity of India. They also learnt the Indian concept of Sarv Dharm Sambhav which emphasized on the equality of destination of the path’s followed by all religions. To mark the GEETA JAYANTI, children were made aware of the teachings of the Bhagwad Geeta and shown videos on history of Kurukshetra. They wrote and discussed the meanings of two shlokas. Children learnt and recited the shlokas and wrote their meaning. An activity was also conducted where children were taken to park to learn about the different varieties of flowers grown during winter season. They discussed about Rabi and Kharif crop and also the importance of winter season to grow the crops. To develop a compassionate temperament in our student an activity on International Human Rights Day (10th December) was conducted for the students of class IV. Students learnt that The United Nations adopted the declaration on 10 December 1948. Rural Carnivals of India –A series of activity conducted on the topic Rural Carnivals of India wherein students of class IV saw videos on Hornbill Carnival of Nagaland, Pushkar Mela of Rajasthan and Paush Mela of West Bengal. Students learnt that if someone wants to see the deep roots of the culture, belief, lifestyle, living, food, art, traditions of India the rural carnivals are the window to view the true colour of India.
To remember the Bhopal Gas Tragedy the school INTACH group had planned a Collage making activity for the students of class VI – VIII on 14th December, 2018. The students collected cut outs from newspapers and magazines about the Bhopal Gas Disaster, pasted them on used art sheets to make them appear interesting and comprehensive. The students made beautiful collages capturing the causes, effects and lessons learnt from the world’s worst industrial disaster.
Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad was buzzing with excitement as multiple activities were conducted on the 20th November 2018 on the occasion of World Heritage Week (Nov 19th – 24th 2018). The activities were focused on the preservation of Indian Heritage and culture. Heritage tourism is huge and helps drive the economy of several communities. Preserving heritage sites thus help sustain the local economy, creating jobs, and even generating capital. The preservation of historic sites is a one-way-street. Once, it’s gone, there is no chance of saving them. This brings to light the importance of locating and preserving a building of historic significance because once a piece of history is lost, it is lost forever. In order to further highlight the importance of heritage and culture, a video on how to preserve our heritage and culture and also to focus on beliefs, customs, language, food, religion, unity and harmony, was shown. Students also participated enthusiastically in the skit and nukkad natak which discussed about India and Indian culture and tradition through a heritage tour. It highlighted the importance of preservation of heritage and the value of Indian culture in our lives. The programmes was concluded with an energetic dance performance on Indian tradition by the students in order to depict the fact that culture consists of connections, not of separations, which are vital to unite us as a nation.
To inculcate in children the feelings of nationalism and Patriotism, Delhi School of Excellence planned various activities and special assemblies. The school focuses on making the experience a joyful one. Since the new batch of heritage club students have yet to make their first movie, the school thought it would be best for them to see a movie and review it and also help them to understand. Special assemblies and activities such as Ramzan and Urdu assembly, Telugu Vaibhavam, Sanskrit Diwas, Hindi Diwas and World Health Day were oragnised
The Ramzan and Urdu assembly showcased the importance of Ramzan with prayer songs, skit and a Qawwali. Telugu Vaibhavam was celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of Kaloji Narayan Rao where the children presented their acts with wonderful expressions and acting in a traditional telugu style. A song about the greatness of telugu language was sung followed by a comic skit, “ Parmanandayya shishyulu”followed by a role play, “Kavi Sammelan” was enacted. Acts like Borra Katha, Chamma chakka, Gurgincha Gummadi, Vedinaku Vokasari, were also presented with a lot of enthusiasm. Celeration of Bonalu was the grand finale and entry of Pothraj from amongst the audience was the highlight of the show. All our students and teachers were enriched with the value and sweetness of the Telugu Language.
A Sanskrit Day was organised in October by the students of 6, 7 and 8 grades along with the Sanskrit Teachers. They started the assembly with Ganesh Vandana followed by a speech, dance and a Sloka Recitation. Main motto of the assembly was to educate the children about the importance of Sanskrit Language. Thus the entire assembly was conducted in Sanskrit language. It was a joyful learning experience for us all. A special assembly was also organised for celebrating Hindi Diwas by the entire Hindi department. The students of all the classes participated and put up a very informative as well as entertaining program. World Health Day was celebrated by organizing a special assembly. The children presented statistics on the condition of peoples health around the world. The presented a skit showcasing how the activities of human beings is polluting the environment.
Oxford Grammar School conducted various events for the students on Children’s day. Grade I, II and III witnessed magic show: The idea behind conducting magic show, an innovative way of capturing the attention of students in class. Magic tricks boost confidence and self-discipline in students. It also provides immense possibilities for entertaining education. Magic is a GREAT way to create interest and wonder. Grade 1-5 students also visited Mongini cake factory at Bolarum which was a unique experience. Snake show was held on children’s day for Grade 4 and 5. The show was conducted to help the students learn about the life of snakes, their myths and all kinds of snakes existing in India.
Grade 6 and 7 enjoyed puppetry show which was help in the school campus on children’s day. This activity was conducted to inject fun and help the students engage in creative play and also stimulate their imagination. Learning through play can be fundamental to education, helping students develop the necessary skills in life. An activity of making salads and sandwich for Grade 8 was also conducted. Sports Gurukul(TSG) tied up with our school conducted Games and sports for grade 9 and 10 to create awareness for sports and fitness as an important part of moral and physical education. Grade 8 to 10 also attended the “Ask Scientists” Forum held on 12th November at Birla Science Centre. Platform created for students to question the scientists on science and technology to clarify their doubts. 73rd UNO celebrations were held in the school campus and grade 10 participated. Students presented speeches and spoke about the aims and objectives of the UN, and the work taken up by it in various countries. The programme was informative and educative for the student community.
The onset of November brought with it the fragrance of various festivals which filled the students’ hearts with more colour than a rainbow’s and the activities conducted ignited the students’ love and respect for their culture and tradition. The junior wing of Delhi Public School enjoyed the various activities conducted. Students enjoyed participating in the various activities on Children’s Day, Heritage day celebration, and Guru Purab celebration. The students also learned about the role of Naturopathy on the first Naturopathy Day in India (18th November), discussed the teachings of Guru Nanak Sahib and also drew beautiful rangolis and diya’s on the occasion of Diwali celebration. World Science Day for Peace and Development was celebrated with an activity of poster making under the theme topic “What would you invent for your school?” To mark the National Press Day (16th November), an activity was conducted wherein they were shown a video on development of print media in India.
Students in group activity designed a newspaper for their school. This activity not only instilled in them love for reading, but also informed them about the progressive role played by the Press for the development of society. On the occasion of Children’s Day, the students drew a picture of Chacha Nehru in their notebook and also watched a video on the life of Pandit Nehru. The students explored the states of India through their handicrafts and which they thoroughly enjoyed. Activity on ‘Rann Mahotsav’ was enjoyed with lots of enthusiasm. A video on the biggest salt deserts in the world was shown to them and Gujarat Art activity was conducted where they learnt about different forms of art in Gujarat from dance to culinary art. ‘Ganga– the source of life’ activity was conducted to mark the Ganga Mahotsav. Children were shown videos on the journey of Ganga. A group activity was conducted wherein children learnt and marked the major cities situated on the banks of river Ganga and how the culture of the city changes due to the course of Ganga, mentioned steps that can be taken to clean the Ganges. Indira Gandhi’s birthday was celebrated as National Integration Day in which children were shown a video on life and achievements of Indira Gandhi. They wrote about how she inspires them. Guru Purab was celebrated in class with great joy. Children were shown video on the bravery and courage of the Sikh Gurus. A timeline activity was conducted wherein children learnt about the history and origin of Sikhism. Heritage assembly, Diwali- non cracker assembly, Guru Purab assembly and book week activity were organised in the school to develop core values and introduce interactive elements in students’ life which help them to feel more connected to their roots and become a well-informed individual.
To mark the beginning of the festive season, children of Middle School participated in the Diya making activity using recycled paper. An assembly on the topic “Say No to Crackers” was also presented to emphasize on an eco-friendly Diwali. They presented a Nukkad Natak reiterating that we should keep our environment pollution free by not bursting crackers. An Inter House ‘Rangoli’ competition was held where each house had a team comprising of six members, three each from class VII and class VIII. The students participated with immense zeal and enthusiasm to create bright and colourful rangolis’. It was a visual treat to see all the ‘Rangolis’. To celebrate ‘World Heritage Week’ a quiz on historical monuments of India was held in the classroom for the students of class VI on 22nd November 2018. The activity helped enhance the knowledge of the pupils as well as inculcate team building skills in them. An activity to ‘Design a Cover Page’ was also carried out. The children used art forms like Madhubani, Warli, Gond etc. to prepare their book covers with great enthusiasm and creativity.
Delhi Public School Gurgaon hosted the Delhi Public School Society, Inter DPS Indian Classical Orchestra Festival 2018 (National Level) on 17th November ’18. Twenty one Delhi Public Schools from different parts of the country participated in this event. This Festival is an initiative of Delhi Public School Society to promote, appreciate and create awareness among youth about the Indian culture and its various art forms. Principal, Ms Aditi Misra, in her address welcomed the judges’ renowned satirist Dr. Vandana Sharma, noted sarod exponent, Pandit Abhik Kumar Sarkar and table exponent Dr. Kumar Rishitosh. She also advised the participants to watch, learn and inculcate the nuances that were pointed out by the eminent judges. She applauded the participants, calling them winners as they were the chosen representatives of their schools. The teams used varied instruments like ektara, jal tarang, mohan veena and wind chimes among many others. This was followed by the screening of prize winning movies on social causes made by the Viewfinders- Photography and Film Making Club of the School. The Valedictory function began with the welcome of Dr. Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary at Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi. She congratulated the school for its organizational skill. The judges appreciated the participants and gave their valuable inputs. They applauded the Delhi Public School Society for providing a platform to the young and budding artists to showcase their talent thereby keeping them rooted to their cultural inheritance. The judges further advised the participating schools on the appropriateness of the instruments used. Ms. Sapna Dhawan, Dean Student Welfare announced the result and declared the overall winners. DPS Gurgaon stood first and bagged the Rolling Trophy followed by DPS Rohini in the second position and DPS R.K. Puram stood third.
Instances of man-animal conflicts have increased across the country as a result of rapid urbanization. Vehicular traffic in and around forest areas is a rising cause of concern as animals continue to pay a heavy price for urbanization. Every year hundreds of animals die in encounters between man and animals. Reports of animals dying in accidents in suburban areas and highways have gone up. The members of INTACH had conducted this activity especially to pursue the Government not to lift a ban on the night traffic. The same report was also forwarded to nature conservationist Mr. Shiv Magaji working in Bandipur. The children learnt a lot about the National Park situated in Bandipur and how urbanization is rapidly harming our surroundings. They also were sensitized about the issue. The school looks forward to conducting many such activities in future that will make a difference.
The heritage enthusiasts’ students of Delhi Public School, Gurgaon organized various interesting and engaging activities. The school paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his birthday. Various activities from different classes portraying Mahatma Gandhi’s beliefs and philosophies were conducted on the occasion. Poster making activity on topic “Swachata hi Sewa” was enthusiastically enjoyed by them. The Joint Commissioner and other officials from Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon attended the assembly and awareness presentation on Swachh Bharat Campaign was done by the officials. The officials also shared the information about the Swachhata App with the students and motivated them to actively use it and contribute towards the Clean India Movement
Activities such a World Food Day, World Nature Day, World Post Day, States Day, English Day and Dussehra assembly were conducted to make the students aware of its importance, value in life and also to preserve the balance of nature. Discussion on unity in diversity was also done. The students displayed the art and craft of each state to familiarize oneself about the varied culture of our country. Poster making activity was also conducted on the topic “Pack a waste free lunch".
Dilli Darshan trip was also organized where the students visited the heritage sites of Delhi and learnt about our history and culture. Gandhi Samriti Museum, Nehru Planetarium, Red Fort, Presidential Museum, Indira Gandhi Museum and Akshardham were places that they visited and enriched their knowledge about varied culture and history of our nation. An informative and fun-packed trip to Agra And Bharatpur was also organized for the students. Agra was an ideal location for the educational tour owing to its vast history and architecture. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Taj Mahal, the finest example of Mughal architecture. Students were mesmerized by the variety of birds at Keoladeo National Park.
To celebrate Wildlife Week, DPS school INTACH group organized a bookmark making activity for the students of classes VI and VII. The children made beautiful bookmarks creating patterns by drawing footprints of different animals. They also wrote small messages to save animals on the bookmark. A poster making activity during the Wildlife Week was held for class VIII. The theme being ‘Treating animals with Respect and Kindness’ children made beautiful posters. The aimed at creating awareness among the youth to have a passionate heart for the biodiversity around them.
Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad was buzzing with excitement as multiple activities were conducted on the 2nd of October 2018. The air around the school was festive and celebratory cheers filled the air on the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. A power-packed Gandhi Jayanti Celebration was observed with great cheer and pomp. The day began with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s Bust by the prestigious Chief Guest Shri. Vijay Nehra, Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Accompanying him were other dignitaries - Shri. Gadvi, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Shri V K Mehta, Deputy Municipal Commissioner and Shri Harshad Solanki, Director - Solid Waste Management- Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation declared Godrej Garden City as a "Zero Waste Township". This progressive initiative was taken by Team Godrej in order to control wastage and recycle the garbage accumulated from Godrej Garden City. A massive facility unit called the MRF or Material Recovering Facility was set up which was inaugurated by the Chief Guest. The students presented a beautiful “NukkadNatak” which focused on keeping our Country Clean and Green which could be initiated with the segregation of wet waste and dry waste. They also took a pledge to keep their surroundings and in turn Mother Nature clean and green. The little ones donated Toys, Clothes, biscuits, books and many more items focusing on the slogan 'Sharing is Caring and Spreading Happiness' as an INTACH Initiative. The rooms of GIIS were filled with boxes of love and generosity which were handed over to Goonj who in turn, would hand it over to the affected people in the slum areas.
Global Indian International School (GIIS), Indore celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by celebrating the occasion for seven days; numerous activities were conducted throughout the week to promote values of non-violence, harmony and brotherhood among students. These activities helped students in understanding the values of virtues that help in peaceful co-existence of both people and nations together. Engaging activities such as debate, quiz, drawing, bhajan and skit competitions based around the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi were conducted. The students were given badges based on culture and values by the esteemed chief guest Col. Karta Sirohi (District Sainik welfare officer). An integrity shop was also set up in the school premises to bring forth pride and responsibility among students along with a special donation box.
Day six was all about 26 students from a government school visiting the campus along with two teachers to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Baa and Baapu; a special assembly was organized for the visiting students followed by an interaction session with Ms. Dinisha Bhardwaj (Principal). The visitors were also given a small surprise in the form of a WISH TREE. They were asked to pen down their wishes on a piece of paper and stick onto the tree and the school will make all possible efforts to fulfill their wishes in the coming future. The school students on the other hand had a fun craft day where they used old craft materials to create something new and extraordinary. Last day of the weeklong celebrations was a day of peace and togetherness for each one at GIIS. Gandhi Ji’s 150th birthday celebrations were named as KHADI DAY and saw every member of the GIIS Indore family in Khadi attires. Mr. Hari Narayan ex Vice Chairman, Indore Development Association along with Mr. Gave Thanewala - member of the Prasi community and an association working for Gandhian values were invited to the grace the occasion for the special celebrations. To promote equality of castes and religion, GIIS Indore came up with the idea of felicitating and honouring the sweepers of the school to make them feel a well-respected and loved member of the GIIS family.
Ryan International School, Sector-40, Gurugram is very much into protecting, conserving and highlighting India Heritage and Culture so we organize in to time activities and Assemblies to spread awareness and amongst students and the society. The Heritage Club organized activities such as “National Poetry” day was celebrated on 4th October 2018 with great enthusiasm and vigour. The day was celebrated with an enlightening Role Play of famous poets. The students dressed up as well known personalities from the field of poetry like Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, William Shakespeare and Sarojini Naidu and highlighted the significant features of their life. They also spoke about their early life and the inspiration behind their famous works.. The life story of these poets inspired the students to not to be discouraged by the failures and difficulties in life and ambition being the driving force, they should override all the difficulties.
A special assembly was organized to mark the “Indian National Postal Day” on 10th October 2018. The assembly was conducted by the students of Sarojini Naidu House where they apprised the audience about methods of communication since older times to modern times. It was an enlightening talk show highlighting the different Methods of Communication. An event was also organized to promote “National Unity Day” on 31st October 2018 to foster and reinforce school’s dedication to preserve unity and integrity of our nation through various activities. As the day celebrates the Birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Indira Gandhi House. A dance drama on Unity in diversity was presented which was followed by a talent round where in Tribhav Kaila student of class V enthralled the audience by his mimicry. The school also celebrated this prestigious occasion by conducting a rally with the teachers and students of class V. They presented the significance of this day by speaking various slogans like ‘Anekta Me Ekta Hi Hamari Shan Hai, Isliye Mera Bharat Desh Mahan Hai’. Other activities conducted were Poster making on the topic National Unity Day and sketch the portrait competition on influential personality along quotations.
The Bright Day School held a meeting for the students to brief them about INTACH and introduce about setting up of the Heritage Club in the school. The meeting was headed by the Principal and all the sectional heads. A heritage quiz was conducted and students were selected for the Heritage Club on merit basis from classes IX, X, XI. The Heritage Club- ‘NEEV’ was inaugurated by the Chairman Shri Jayendra Shah. Jt. Managing Trustee Shri Saunil Shah, Principal and all sectional heads along with 30 members of students of the Heritage Club was present. The Club started with an inaugural speech. The Heritage Club students were honoured with INTACH badges by the Chairman, Jt. Managing Trustee and various other heads. A pledge related to heritage conservation was taken by all. The students were briefed about their responsibilities and very purpose of the Heritage Club in the coming months. Various activities such as Wildlife Day- Poster making for classes IV-V, Animal Rights Day for classes VI-VIII, Debate discussion on vegetarianism and animal rights, A journey with khadi (display of charts, visit to Khadi emporium) for classes IX, X, XI were planned and conducted systematically.
The month of September began with the celebration of Teachers Day. Various fun filled enriching activities were conducted for the grade 3, 4 & 5. Students of class 3 began their activities with a celebration of World Coconut Day, wherein they learnt the different parts of coconut and their uses. Students drew pictures of coconut in their notebook and got to know interesting facts about this very special gift of nature. Hindi Diwas was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm amongst the students of class 3. They made poster on Vyanjan Varna, they learnt the correct use of our country’s official language. An activity on World Alzheimer's day was also conducted for class 3, students were made aware of different facts related to this mental deterioration disease. They made poster on this common age related problem to spread awareness. World Tourism Day was celebrated with sharing information on beautiful tourist destinations of the world. Students designed a brochure on state of their choice highlighting its tourist places, using their creativity.
Activity for class 4-MY TEACHERS, MY INSPIRATION! A talk was organised by the students about Teachers Day celebration, they wrote a small write up in their note book about Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan. Thereafter students drew a photo frame in the note book depicting themselves in the same frame with their teacher and wrote slogan/tagline. DEMOCRACY A PERFECT CHOICE! Students learnt that 15th September is being celebrated as International Day of Democracy all over the world. Discussion with the students on different forms of government (Monarchy, Dictatorship, Republic, Democracy) and why Democracy is the best form, along with famous quote by Abraham Lincoln was organised. Thereafter students in a group of five performed a role play and spoke on the topic why Democracy is a perfect choice in the contemporary world. BE AN INFORMED TRAVELLER! To celebrate World Tourism Day (27th September) students were shown videos on importance of Eco Tourism. Thereafter they drew SOUVENIR (jewellery, toys, handicrafts) which they have got from any of the place visited recently. Through I AM A PEACE LOVER! Activity idea of World Peace Day was discussed with the students. Students learnt that - Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21th September. This day is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and people. As thereafter activity, Students designed a badge with a drawing of dove and writing a slogan-I AM A PEACE LOVER
As part of Teachers' Day activity students of class 5, were shown a video on the greatest teachers of the world. Thereafter students mentioned one incident that has touched his /her heart that their teacher did or say and they made a thank you card for the teacher. Students celebrated World Tourism Day with various interactive activities. They were shown videos on importance of tourism and ecotourism. There after they drew a picture of one monument they wish to visit or visited and three things they could do to protect the environment around it. The activity helped to reinforce the concept of sustainable tourism amongst the students. To spread awareness about the importance of Ozone layer in our environment Ozone Day (16th September) celebrated by the students of class 5. Students watched a video on ozone layer depletion. They made bookmarks to remind themselves about their contribution in saving the environment, with illustration about ozone layer. To celebrate the idea of a peaceful and harmonious world, World Peace Day (21st September) was organised for the students wherein students were shown video on ongoing wars and possibility of 3rd world war. They designed badges with peace quotes and white doves to support peace.
The students of middle wing celebrated 'Tourism Day' on 20th September and participated in an activity to design railway tickets. The students designed beautiful tickets covering some of the heritage sites of their state. They showcased various tourist places of India to promote tourism.
A three day Pottery making workshop was organized at W H Smith Memorial School in association with INTACH Varanasi Chapter. It was held from October 3rd - 5th, 2018. A large number of students participated in the workshop. The students from Sunbeam School, Varuna also participated in the workshop. Both the schools are institutional members of INTACH. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Bachche Lal Ji Maurya, a renowned master craftsman and national Awardees for his soft stone creations. He is also the President of Benares Handicrafts Cooperative Society. Shri Ashok Kapoor, Convener of INTACH Varanasi Chapter explained the purpose of the workshop. The Guest of Honor for the occasion was Prof. Devendra Kumar, Head Department of Ceramic Engineering at IIT BHU. Life member of INTACH Shri Vijay Kabra also attended the workshop.
In the workshop, the students not only learnt the art of making clay pottery but also clay toys from potter Shri Sanju Prajapati whose family is engaged in making clay potteries and toys for generations. He was assisted by his nephew. The students showed great enthusiasm and excitement. Great response was also received by the teachers who later joined in learning to make some potteries. This workshop not only created awareness amongst students about preservation of this age old heritage but also helped them realise how our ancestors were not dependant on plastic but used clay for various purposes. It was a unique workshop for school students as well as the teachers. INTACH created a goodwill amongst schools and students and also achieved its aim of promoting intangible heritage amongst students.
Gavri is a treasure of Mewar aborigines and is a World Class Intangible Cultural Heritage. Performed by the Bheel (Gameti) tribe, it is a great mix of spirituality, art, discipline, refinement and sense of attachment with strong roots of culture. With modernization, this rich tradition is gradually heading towards extinction and if we are unable to conserve this valuable treasure, it would be a great loss to the mankind.
The INTACH Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar Public School, Udaipur visited Fatehsagar to witness Gavri on September 19th, 2018. INTACH in its efforts is striving hard to conserve the endangered phenomenon and sensitize children about this art. The students along with their teachers witnessed the performance of Gavri at Fatehsagar and also learnt about the same in detail. Students were excited to witness the basic dance forms, play and instruments used. The students applauded the performance by the Bheels and acknowledgement by people at large will definitely boost up the morale of the performers. Students were very happy to know about the various characters of Gavri and specially the character 'Buria' who moves around to be near to the audience. The offerings and praising of God in shivers were enough to raise goose bumps.

David Kubiak (RGP Publicist) associated with Rediscovering Gavri Project (RGP) initiated by UNESCO also gave a presentation at Maharana Mewar Public School on October 1, 2018 along with Mr. Harish Agney, Author and Documentarian. Mr. David highlighted the importance of Gavri and its subtle nuances. The event was coordinated by the INTACH Club of the School.

The School celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ on 13th September 2018 as a mark of acknowledgement of HINDI as the National Language. The celebration began with Lord’s Prayer and Bible reading in pure Hindi. Later, students of class IV recited the famous Hindi poems with enthusiasm. Ryanites presented humorous poems and jokes in Hindi which made the audience laugh so hard. HOD of Hindi department speaking on the occasion tried to spread the message “Hindi Hamari Shaan Hai Desh Ka Abhiman Hai”. She emphasized that we should be proud of our national language and should learn to speak in public domain without any hesitation. Students mesmerized audience with their song – ‘Hum Sab Bhartiya Hain’. School Head Ms. Nisha Sharma speaking on the occasion gave an insight and importance of Dohas in our daily life and urged everyone to feel proud of our National Language- Hindi. Thus, the celebration concluded with a positive note.
A special assembly on 27th September was conducted to celebrate World Tourism Day through a Talk Show by students of class I-A, keeping in mind the vision point “Art & Culture” of our Respected Chairman Sir Dr. A. F. Pinto. Students explained the significance of tourism in conserving history and heritage of India through this interesting skit. They told that cultural heritage tourism has many benefits. They opined that it provides an alternative form of business creating jobs and generating income for the local people. It also gives an impression to the tourists about our culture, religion, festivals, values, archaeological sites, historical centres and religious structures. As cultural heritage tourism provides knowledge to tourists about India, it builds pride and confidence in the citizens. Students also highlighted names of famous historic places of India. They further urged the audience to promote cultural heritage tourism. School Head Ms. Nisha Sharma appreciated the young Ryanites for their informative presentation. She also inspired the students to visit famous historic places of India to increase their general knowledge.

They were told to impress upon their parents to celebrate the festival without polluting the environment. On 24th September an ‘Initiatives of change, India I care’ workshop was held in Oxford Grammar school premises. Grade 9 participated in the Workshop and engaged the participants through a unique combination of facilitated spaces, experiential learning activities, songs, skits, multimedia and sharing circles. The program was tailored to engage participants in becoming informed, involved, ethical and productive citizens and leaders of the world. The institute is one of the oldest research centers in India, and the largest center, under the Indian Council of Medical Research, located in the vicinity of Osmania University. The institute has associated clinical and pediatric nutrition research wards at various hospitals such as the Niloufer Hospital for Women and Children, the Government Maternity Hospital, the Gandhi Medical College and the Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad. The students visited the library and also interacted with the staff and got to know the importance of nutrition’s required for the person to be in good health.
A Centenary heritage museum walk was conducted on 26th September by Ms Madhu Vottery, the Heritage Walk Coordinator of Telangana Tourism. The museum consists of art objects such as terracotta, stucco, metal, bronze, wood and porcelain through ages from Indus valley civilizations namely chinnamaruru, peddamaruru, yeleswaram, kondapur and keesaragutta. The stucco displayed here are from phanigiri and siddheswaram. The stone sculptures displayed here represent Ikshvaku, kakatiya, vijayanagara period from nalgonda and Warangal district. There are four galleries displaying pre –history, Neolithic object, megalithic objects. In the 2nd floor evolution of arts on caves, rock shelters ceilings and walls of temples are displayed. The paintings represent from Pre historic sites ie ketavaram, benkal, akkamahadevi caves, pandavulagutta and paintings on the ceilings and walls from Allagadda and Lepakshi. The eye copies of Ajanta paintings and rare and master pieces of paintings drawn by A.R. chugtai, copies of Isfahan Frescos, Japanese and European paintings are displayed along the ramp. Grade 5 students of Heritage Club participated in Museum walk and they gained knowledge in the history and culture which ancestors left behind us.
On 2th September, the students of Oxford Grammar school walked through the downstream of Musi River along the City College to Salarjung Museum in the river bed (Southern) where a ‘Photo Exhibition’ of Musi River archived by FBH was organized for perusal and understanding the glory of the River Musi. The students discussed about the Musi River and its revival and emphasized on the development of proper drainage system in Hyderabad city in order to prevent floods and related calamities.

The Tamarind tree on the premises of Afzal Park in Osmania General Hospital had housed 150 people during the floods and saved their lives. It is the tree which has a rich history of witnessing the devastating flood which took the lives of nearly 15000 people. Solidarity meet was held on Friday at the Osmania General Hospital under the famous Tamarind tree to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Musi River Floods that took place on the 28th September 1908 in Hyderabad. Ganesh Chaturthi, as we all know is a ten day Hindu festival which is celebrated with great pomp and festivity in India. This year, keeping the rising environmental concerns in mind, GIIS Ahmedabad decided to balance culture and nature. A workshop was organized wherein the children of GIIS Ahmedabad were escorted to the Godrej Garden City– Tivoli cluster to meet the father-daughter duo, Mr. Gautam Raval and Ms. Sally Raval, who were keen to explain to the children the method of creating eco-friendly Ganeshas’ for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in their respective society. Mr. Raval said “for the past four years, we are trying to help protect the environment by making eco-friendly Ganesha Idols. Even though it takes approximately 15 days to make create such idols, it would greatly reduce the impact on natural water bodies and in turn nature, to a huge extent." They explained to the children the process of creating such idols using soil. The steps were as follows:
The students of Grade 5A, 5B, 5C, eagerly joined in on the fun in order to explore the possibilities of creating idols using soil. They were inspired by this excellent idea which focused on the well-being of the environment while maintaining the respect towards the age long culture and tradition. After the workshop was over, a number of beautiful masterpieces lay on the table. However, now came the time for the Ganesha Visarjan. The eco-friendly idols were not taken to any river or stream. Rather, a large water drum or a bucket was utilized in the immersion of the idol. In an estimated period of 2-3 days, the idol would completely dissolve in the water, and then the muddy water would be utilized for gardening and plantation purposes. The entire workshop was a grand success. The students pledged not to purchase idols which were created using harmful artificial materials which in turn put our environment at risk. They even planned to make Shiva idols for Shivratri and Durga Mata idols for Navratri and promised to inspire the people around them to practice these eco-friendly methods.
W H Smith Memorial School, one of the institutional members of INTACH organised various competition for students under Heritage Awareness programme. Plants, flower arrangements, quiz etc. were some of the activities organized under supervision from some INTACH members. Mrs. Anjila Agrawal, Life Member and coordinator for ICH CELL and Heritage Walk cell of Varanasi Chapter was guest the of Honour and Mr. Ashok Kapoor, Convener was the Chief Guest. The students did an excellent work where some of their works were displayed too. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour facilitated the students and distributed the awards and certificates. Mrs. Anita Dey, Principal of School and Mr Ashok Kapoor felicitated the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour and other judges present at the programme.
On 11th September 2018 the Heritage Club students from VidyaGyan School, Sitapur had an educational excursion to General Post Office, Hazratganj, Lucknow. The students were accompanied by their club teachers Mrs. Manisha Pundir and Mr. Chogyal Bhutia. The GPO is located on the main Vidhan Sabha Road, just opposite to the Christ Church on the main Hazratganj crossing. The whole building is said to have been constructed with red brick and lime stone and no iron was used in it. A stone embedded on the main gate of the GPO dates the buildings as 1929-1932.
The General Post Office has an amazing history. During the British rule, this building was called as the ‘Ring Theatre’ which was used by the British for entertainment and was popularly known as ‘Entertainment Centre’. The Club was welcomed warmly by the staff at the Post-office. The students were taken around to see how letters are collected, segregated, stamped and then stored in pigeon holes for the postmen to collect. We had a glance of the various counters catering to the public, namely those selling stamps, envelopes, postcards etc. We were explained the way parcels are delivered to different places in the city and places in the country as well as many countries too! While returning we got to see a mail van and were also told the way the letters go by van to the airport and railway station.

The Philatelic Museum in-charge, Lucknow- Mr. Ramesh Chandra introduced the Club about the museum, what Philately means and the working of postal services in India at present wherein he also mentioned how the world had progressed over the years in the world of postal system. The students were very curious learning about the history of Stamps in India. The students discovered that the Indian Post Office was established in 1837 and Asia's first adhesive stamp, the Scinde Dawk, was introduced in 1852 by Sir Bartle Frere, the British East India Company's administrator of the province of Sind. They also came to know that India's independence saw the postal department issue its first stamp on 21 Nov 1947 depicting the Indian flag. The Dominion of India issued stamps from 1947 to 1949 with the caption of India Postage.
They discovered many more unknown facts about the Indian stamps and postal services like India is one of the earliest active members of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialised agency of the United Nations, having its headquarters at Berne, Switzerland; India Post ATMs have been installed in more than 500 locations across the country; Hikkim Postal Office, Himanchal Pradesh is the world’s most astounding Post Office station area at a tallness of 15,500 feet above ocean level. During the tour students also interacted actively and enquired about details regarding the working of the post office. Many illuminating facts about ‘India Post’ recklessly were unravelling in-front of the Club members. The students found their thoughts coinciding with the quote- ‘Known…is a drop... Unknown is an ocean’ as mentioned in one of the postcard on Kalidasa’s Meghdoot. The excursion stimulated fascination, enlightenment and above all a great learning experience amongst the students. Many of them got inspired to practice philately as their lifelong hobby.
The ICON Public School celebrated Janmashtami on 1st September, 2018. The teachers and the students actively participated in the all the activities conducted for the celebration. Young students were dressed up as Krishna and enacted short plays. The school also celebrated Teachers day with great gaiety. The day was made special with a fashion show for both the students and the parents who joyously participated in the activity.

Tiger is symbol of wilderness and well-being of the ecosystem. By conserving and saving tigers the entire wilderness ecosystem is conserved which is important and crucial to maintain the life support system. To firmly establish this in the minds of our young learners 'INTACH DHAROHAR' had organized an event in which children wrote about the importance, preservation of the National animal of India. They became aware of the crisis that will be created in the ecosystem with the extinction of this magnificent creature! The School also participated in the Young INTACH Newsletter Spices of India. The members of INTACH DHAROHAR got to writing articles on their favourite dishes made with their favourite spices, their origin and their uses with great zeal. The activity was completed and the articles sent to the Intach office in New Delhi. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and got to learn a few interesting things about spices as well!

Heritage Club, Ryan International School, Sector 40, Gurugram organised an assembly to mark the remarkable event of the freedom struggle "The Quit India Movement."
Students of class IV C enthusiastically presented a skit on The Quit India Movement. They explained that The Quit India Movement was a civil disobedience movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi on 8 August 1942, during World War II, demanding an end to British Rule of India. The students informed everyone about the factors which lead to the event and its consequences. The Talk Show helped the students to know more about this important event in the history of India’s independence. It also emphasised respected Chairman Sirs`s Vision of inculcating love for our country and the legacy that we have herited from our ancestors. It also infused the students hearts with the feeling of patriotism and immense respect for the freedom fighters.
The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with much grandeur and aplomb along with felicitation of the academic achievers of Class-II A.Y 2017-18. The eventful day began by flag hoisting and grand march past followed by the national anthem. The Chief Guest, Group Captain C. M Misra, Ms. Renu Bhatia, Secretary General at BJP, Ms. Poonam Bhatnagar, General Secretary at Deepshikha Society and the School Head, Ms. Nisha Sharma took the salute from the well synchronised marching contingents consisting of the School Council, the four school houses and the energetic Cubs and Bulbul. The grand celebrations of the day began by invoking God’s blessings with Bible verses and special prayer for our Motherland and fellow citizens. The melodious prayer songs sung by the school choir gave a pious start to everyone’s day. The guests of honour were warmly accorded a sincere welcome with welcome address in five languages followed by a peppy welcome dance. The extremely talented Ryanites presented a mesmerising skit ‘The Spirit of India’ which highlighted the contributions and sacrifices made by the brave hearts that everyone remembers with deep regard. The esteemed guests motivated the students through their inspiring words and touched the heart of the spectators. The guests were thoroughly impressed by the show which showcased the Ryanites talents in various spheres. They praised the Ryanites and encouraged them to continue to work with same enthusiasm and zeal. The celebrations came to an end with a spectacular Patriotic dance performance by the young dancers. The rhythmic performance by the Ryanites filled everyone’s hearts with colours of patriotism. The day ended with tricolour kites flying high by esteemed guest and parents to express their patriotism and respect for our country India.
The GIIS celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm on the 15th of August with a special assembly conducted by grade V students. The students performed a marvelous skit, ‘The Unsung Heroes’ to pay homage to the martyrs along with dances and patriotic song with the motive of inculcating the feeling of patriotism and respect for our Motherland. Our beloved principal ‘Dr. Amrita Vohra’ addressed the gathering with her motivational and inspiring words sharing with us her thoughts on the Roadmap of progress 72 years ahead. The children were seen beaming with a sense of pride and happiness to portray the various freedom fighters who have sacrificed their life to give us the free India that we live in today.
The feeling of patriotism and love for the motherland is an invincible force which keeps us all bound to each other. The children of the Primary section were excited to present the various songs dedicated to India. The children presented beautiful songs beautifully describing the cultural aspect of their country and made the feeling of patriotism stronger than ever before.
Children of grade 2K presented a special assembly on Janmashtami. They performed a skit through which they have told the importance of the day. They also dance on a beautiful song which was followed by dahihandi. Efforts put by all the children were highly appreciable.
Hiroshima Day commemorates the 6th of August as an anti-war day, as thousands of people lost their lives in the year 1945 when the United States of America detonated nuclear bombs over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. The students of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad witnessed the joy of sharing love and peace, closely by celebrating "Hiroshima Day" with the underprivileged children, who are usually neglected by our society. GIIS Ahmedabad collaborated with an NGO to change this perception and dismiss this view. Our students visited slum areas of Gulbai Tekra to spread love, smiles, laughter and spend quality time with the children. Students interacted with the underprivileged children and taught them the art of making Origami Swans. They also shared chocolates along with other goodies with them. Watching them blend together was indeed heartwarming and a quote resonated in our minds, "Do not raise your child to grow up facing a cruel world but raise them to make the world a better place."The day began with a beautiful assembly, and it was a good fulfilling day ahead. In memory of this tragic incident, the students of GIIS Ahmedabad presented a heart wrenching skit on the life of Sadako, a 12-year-old young Japanese girl who, believed that if she prepared a thousand Origami Swans, her wish of attaining world peace would come true. However, since she was suffering from Leukemia, she died shortly, leaving behind hopes, dreams and a legacy to continue. The students were touched to hear the beautiful story of Sadako and as a tribute to the Atomic Disaster at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, pledged to achieve the goal of promoting peace and equality at GIIS and at home.

Independence Day was celebrated with fun and several activities conducted to venerate our Independence Day and inspire our children to do their part in the development of our nation.
Hiroshima Day- to familiarize the importance of maintaining peace and harmony and need to protect our environment to save humanity.
International Day of the World’s Indigenous People – to know the significance of one’s culture and traditions. The students made the logo and discussed the challenges faced by these people when they try to fit in with the mainstream. Students also wrote about the different tribes of India that still follow the old way of life.
International Youth Day- a discussion was held to discuss the responsibilities of the Youth for the country, for the family, for the society. They discussed about the challenges faced by the youth and how to overcome it in today’s scenario and also about their ideal and how they are inspired by the work done by that youth icon. The role of women in freedom struggle was discussed in class and students were shown several documentaries related to it. The students then made posters on the different initiatives taken be the government for Women Empowerment and need to save girl child.
My Identity My National Symbols - The importance of National symbols was discussed. They tabulated various national symbols of our country. Students were shown a video on national symbols of India. Thereafter they drew any five national symbols in the notebook.
Sanskrit- Scientific and Logical Activity was Conducted to Commemorate Sanskrit Day on 6th August. Children were shown videos about the origin of Sanskrit and discussed about how all other languages not only Indian but foreign languages too have common or similar kind of words which we find in Sanskrit.
Children of class VIII participated in an Inter House Quiz Competition. The topic for the quiz was ‘Incredible India’. It was a very informative and enriching competition for the participants. All the teams participated actively.
Bookmark Making Activity- students of class VI made bookmarks and cards using the various arts such as Khovar and Sohrai thus reviving and re-inventing them.
A Folk Dance Competition for the students of class VI was held on 3rd August, 2018 in the school auditorium. The children dressed up in colourful costumes swayed to the beats of folk music. Children with their vivacious dances enthralled the audience.
Rakhi Making Activity- Raksha bandhan is a festival which celebrates love between brothers and sisters. A rakhi making activity was organized for the students of classes VI and VII on 14th August, 2018. Students enthusiastically made colourful rakhi’s using bio degradable materials. The rakhi’s along with affectionate messages were sent to the soldiers posted at the border.
Independence Day was celebrated with great gusto and fervor at DPS Gurgaon. Flag hoisting of the Indian tricolor by the Principal Ms. Aditi Misra marked the beginning of the celebrations. Addressing the gathering, the Principal stressed on the need for the parents to be role models for their children. She urged the parents and students to support the initiative of educating the students of Shiksha Kendra. She emphasised on the need to eliminate negativity, bigotry, differences and selfishness among the members of the society. She gave the message of everyone empowering one another.
A motivational speech on the meaning of Independence was given by Gaurav, a student of Shiksha Kendra. It was followed by an inspiring street play ‘Gandhi in me’ performed by the students of class V. Gandhiji’s message of treating everyone with equality and abolishing caste system and untouchability was brought out effectively by the children through the play. Param Kapoor, youth representative of ‘SOCH’, spoke about the initiative towards organ donation and urged everyone to be a part of the drive. The school choir comprising of students of Shiksha Kendra, junior and senior school presented an awe inspiring medley of patriotic songs. The cultural function culminated with a mesmerising dance performance by over 100 students of Shiksha Kendra. Tricolour kites filled the sky with patriotic fervor symbolizing the spirit of freedom at the end of the cultural celebrations.
Dharohar, the Social Science club of Delhi Public School Gurgaon, presented the third edition of the Annual Festival with the theme ‘Enchanting Medieval India’ on Saturday, 18th August 2018. The Festival was graced by the presence of the Principal Ms. Aditi Misra and Mr. Ajay Rajpal, the Guest for the event Showcase -2018. The Principal, Ms. Aditi Misra inaugurated the event with the traditional lamp-lighting along with Mr. Ajay Rajpal. She addressed the gathering and shared with students the true essence of Dharohar. She focused on the need to connect and protect our heritage and be true to our legacy and take it forward with responsibility and care. Ramp Talk, the first event, was a tribute to the medieval Indian costume and an acknowledgment of its adaptation in the contemporary fashion showcased by the students. It was followed by QueSST, the quiz on the history of the medieval era. It tested the familiarization of the students with the facts and facets of the time period. GazeSST, the historical newspaper on medieval rulers showcased the creativity of the students along with Through the Lens which was an online movie-making event on the theme ‘Know your city and its vicinity’.
The Pracheena Heritage Club of Oxford Grammar School, Hyderabad organized a farm visit to Balaranya farm near Pragnapur. Farm visits helps the students to learn about various aspects of botany and horticulture, such as the climatic condition required for the growth of certain crops and the harvesting methods deployed for the same. They can also learn a lesson in animal science by the steps needed for the upkeep of the farm animals. This exercise was organized “To help students discover knowledge and enable hands-on method”. The Goal is to educate students in hands-on active way of education in Agriculture, Farm Technology, and Food Processing. The objective of the Coordinator is to make the students engage with nature, agriculture, develop respect for farmers, value for food and love for mother earth. Grade 1 to 3 had bullock cart ride, plucking vegetable and putting in baskets and collecting leaves and naming them. The students also got to spent time with farm animals (cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats, hen, turkeys and ducks) and made birds nest. Various agriculture implements and tools along with names and irrigation machinery names and uses were displayed. Grade 4 and 5 made scarecrow, planted saplings and make organic liquid fertilizer and sprayed on the plants. Grade 6 and 7 had method demonstration on Gobar gas plant, grid irrigation and also vermicompost. Grade 8 and 9 had constructed Rain harvest pits, demonstrations on solar panels and aquaculture Grade 10 had tried hand on leveling the soil, taking out weeds, sowing seeds and then transplanting the small crops in the fields.
Haritha Haaram, is the brain child of Telangana State Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao. He has launched it on July 5 2015 with an aim to increase the tree cover in the Telangana State. As a part of Haritha Haaram project, the members of Oxford Grammar School also planted the saplings and also distributed saplings to students, teachers and parents.

Rakhi with Rakshak- The students of Global Indian International, Indore celebrated Rakhi celebration the Traffic Headquarter West Zone Police Station with lots of love and harmony with the cops of Mhow Naka Police Station. The celebration was a social initiative taken up by GIIS-Indore to extend a heartfelt thank you and honour to the brave police cops who serve us unconditionally. 23 students accompanied by the Pre-Primary Coordinator Ms. Sarika Bhatia, Ms. NehaRatnaparkhe and Mr. Shubham Lahiri visited the Traffic Headquarter West Zone Police Station. DSP Traffic Mr. Sunil Sharma addressed all the GIIS students and also explained them about the working style of the police station and took them on a round. GIIS girl students tied the Rakhi to all the cops to which they were highly obliged. As a customary practice, after tying the Rakhi’s, the cops handed gifts to all the girls as a shagun. All the policemen were elated by this sweet gesture shown by our students, and even students were overwhelmed with the love and respect they got from the policemen.
On the occasion of Rakhi, GIIS-Indore students celebrated the festival of Rakhi with lots of love and harmony with the kids of Shraddha and Orphanage. This celebration was a social initiative taken up by GIIS-Indore to extend the sympathy towards the orphanage kids and learn a sense of responsibility and discipline from them as well. It was also a small step towards removing the unfortunate void created in their lives by sharing an emotional bond with them. On 24-08-18, our Class IV B went to "Shradhan and Orphanage for Girls" at 09:00 AM with Mr. Rahul Kokate and Mrs. Sonali Verma. There were 21 Boys and 7 Girls from our school and 32 girls from the Orphanage. Our Boys handed over Rakhis to the orphan girls, to tie on their hands in the auspicious occasion of Rakhshabandan. All the Children were quite happy to be the part of it.Our girls distributed the sweets to the orphan children.
Raksha bandhan was also celebrated by students of GIIS Indore Kindergarten wing with great zeal and enthusiasm. Teachers told students that this festival symbolised sister’s love and prayer for her brother’s prosperity and long life. Students tied rakhis on each other’s wrists and greeted each other by offering sweets. All rakhis were made by students themselves under the direction of their teachers. They also celebrated Onam; they prepare flower rangoli and enjoyed the celebration to their fullest. Students, meanwhile, have gone ‘green’ with rakhis too. Students made beautiful rakhis from waste materials on 3R’S day; it is a group activity where students collected different waste material and with the help of their teachers they prepared big rakies for trees and plants.The ‘green’ rakhies were tied to tree and plants as a pledge to protect them for a healthy environment.
The Heritage Club of Gyan Mandir School undertook a Project called – ‘YAMUNA—ELIXIR OF LIFE’ in which the students from class I to Class X participated. This project was taken up to show their concern for Yamuna Pollution. Various activities were undertaken under this project where students made charts on stories related to Yamuna, models of monuments along the Yamuna—the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal were exhibited. Some students also recited poems on Yamuna pollution. Various causes of pollution of Yamuna were highlighted. The students also exhibited models of YAMUNA ACTION PLAN as well trash skimmers that were being brought into use for cleaning up of Yamuna. Few tests on portability of water were carried out. The students also made slogans of prevention of Yamuna Pollution.
This year we started off the heritage club in classes 5 to 7 very enthusiastically. Our year plan this year focuses on Young INTACH topics and also on the culture, heritage and traditions of India. We have a huge club of - students.
In the months of March and April, we gave a clear picture to the students on how the heritage club works towards understanding the rich culture and heritage of our country. We also explained to them the Young INTACH Topic Wooden Wonders for the month of April and May. In the next class they were shown a few traditional homes that were still constructed in some villages like the courtyard style and the thatched roof homes that have been continued. Children were asked to collect information on such homes and monuments where wood was used in construction.
In the month of April children were shown a Power point presentation on heritage sites in India made during the ancient, medieval and modern period. A holiday project was assigned to collect pictures of any five monuments and their information was to be collected.
In June the students were introduced to the folk and classical dances of India with a power point presentation where they were able to see the different costumes worn by dancers and their dance forms to further explain the postures and moves of different dances. An activity was conducted where children had to perform any classical or folk dances of any state of India. Children who were trained in classical dances were leading those who were not. They trained each other and performed after a week in the next club class. Their performances were authentic and elegant. The performances continued for forthcoming two classes as there were many enthusiastic students. Thereafter Young INTACH topic of India's spice story was introduced. Children were shown a power point presentation on the spices and their benefits. Samples were brought and they were made to identify the fragrances of the various spices. They were instructed to bring recipes and stories based on spices of India. An Activity was conducted where they were asked to make greeting cards for their grandparents and decorate them using the spices. In the next class they were given a worksheet where we had map pointing of the spices grown in different parts of India.
An exhibition on ritual arts from the painted villages of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand by traditional women was showcased at India International Centre. The exhibition was organised by VRASAT Trust and India International Centre starting from 24th till the 4th of August, 2018. Renowned artists Parvati Devi, Putli Ganjhu and Malo Devi will be demonstrating the techniques of making Sohrai and Khovar art with earth colours on papers and canvas from 25th to 31st July, 2018. The INTACH heritage club students of St. Marks Girls Higher Secondary School, Delhi and Army Public School, Delhi visited the exhibition and also participated in trying their hands on painting the art using the technique.
The Pracheena Heritage Club Members of Oxford Grammar school as part of their heritage club activity celebrated Tigers day celebration at KBR Park on 27th July, 2018. The main goal of Tiger Day is to make sure that the protection and expansion of wild tiger habitats is promoted well and this can happen only with the right awareness for tiger. The young enthusiastic students actively participated in the activity and also took pledge to protect and preserve our national animal.
Installation Ceremony of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage) Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar Public School was held on July 26, 2018. The occasion was graced by Dr. B. P. Bhatnagar (Regional Convener, INTACH and Former Vice Chancellor, JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University), Mr Gaurav Singhvi (Co-Convener INTACH) and Prof. (Retd) Lalit Pandey (Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur). Dr. Bhatnagar gave away the young INTACH badges to the new INTACH heritage club members and certificates to the participants of Route to Route Competition (2017-18). INTACH Member Saiyma Khanam (X) was awarded for securing Second Position at District Level All India Poster Making Competition. A slide show highlighting the School achievements and activities of Session 2017-18 was presented by Aditya Singhvi and Sherebanu Attari. A cultural presentation on the occasion showcased India’s rich cultural heritage. Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhatnagar apprised about the importance of heritage in our lives and also encouraged the students to actively participate in all heritage activity.
Global lndian International School (GIIS), Indore celebrated their love for fitness on the occasion of International Yoga Day with a lot of inspiration and confidence that came in form of a motivational speech by the principal of the school - Dr. (Capt.) Dinisha Bhardawaj. Dr. (Capt.) Bhardawaj addressed the students to explain the true meaning of Yoga as prescribed in Hindi and Sanskrit languages. She even shared the positive effects of performing yoga on one’s mind and body and how one can feel stress free by following it regularly. An Oath ceremony was performed where each one present swore to practice yoga daily. Different asana were also performed. The sole intent behind organizing a yoga session for the school students was to motivate them along with the teachers to practice Yogasanas and Pranayamas regularly so that they can witness the miracles it has on human mind and body. Ending the session on a positive note, the topic of Clean India, Green India was also taken up and discussed in detail to reinforce the idea among everyone present there. Keeping the spirits alive, a free health check-up was also organized by the school authorities in association with St. Francis Hospital. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Sumit and Mr. Hemant Suri (GIIS Indore Infrastructure partners), Mr. Manasvi (President-Yuva Morcha), Sarpanch of Sinhasa Village, the school Principal and Dr. Neeraj Dayani (MD Medicine - Francis Hospital). For every individual coming for the check-up, a full diet consultation was also provided by a professional dietician followed by refreshments. Around 52 parents benefitted from the drive and got to understand their food and eating habits better.
Vanmahotsav was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. All the students from primary to secondary clases participated in various activities conducted throughout the week. Teachers discussed about the importance of conserving the environment and planting trees, use of plastic was highlighted as a major agent of environmental degradation and the urgent need to ban was stressed on. Students participated enthusiastically in various activities, like planting sapling, making seed balls, and growing plants in waste plastic containers. The students of primary and secondary brought selected plants like Lantana, Euphorbia, Kaner, and Asparagus etc. Presentations on the importance of trees and forest were also given. The soft boards were prepared with the theme on Van Mahotsav. Group discussions were also conducted in classes 3-5 on ‘things we get from forest’. The students as well as the parents participated in the plantation drive and planted trees saplings with the help of the school gardener.
The plantation drive organised by the school with the support of BSF soldiers and officers on 21/07/2018. The saplings were procured from the Ministry of Forest Welfare and about 100 students of GIIS along with the teachers and officers of BSF planted 500 saplings of different species of trees. These saplings were planted in the Revati range BSF Campus. The occasion was graced with the presence of Second in Command Mr B.K. Singh; He addressed the students and the teachers to ensure the sapling's healthy nurturing. He appealed the students and the teachers to adopt trees for the 100% survival and healthy growth of each sapling into full-fledged trees for creating purer environment in the city and appreciated our school's initiative to make the school surroundings green. All the students were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the planting process, even though they all got wet and muddy Tree planting event connected the students to the benefits of trees and fostered environmental sensitivity in them. It also brought them closer to the environment and also helped them to know the benefits of trees and understand environmental sensitivity. Enjoying all activities with message of saving trees and environment left an even longer lasting impression on their mind.
Bal Bharti Public School, Manesar celebrated Van Mahotsava on 6th July, 2018 at Forest Department, Gurgaon. Van mahotsava is celebrated throughout India during 1st to 7th July of every year. Shweta Verma and Kiran Sharma along with 26 children of class 6th went to the Forest Department for a plantation drive. Children enjoyed and learned the value of plants in maintaining the environment. Native plants were bought from the Forest Department. During monsoon season thee school takes up a plantation drive in nearby area. Through this activity we inculcate the culture 'love for plants and trees 'among children. Children enjoyed observing the native plants. They were excited about caring for the plants.
The GIIS, Ahmedabad on the occasion of Van Mahotsav took up some activities. It is a festival when we celebrate the forests, trees and natural vegetation around us. This year, the school chose the students of Grade-8 to be a part of the Van Mahotsav. Students were excited to be a part of this hands-on activity. A video presentation was shown on about the importance of forests, and how deforestation is not only causing problems to humans but it is also leading to extinction of various species of wildlife. Then they were introduced to the concept of ‘Seed-Balls’. They were also shown a video on how to make seed balls themselves, without any help. An outdoor activity was organised where the students used soil, compost and seeds to make small balls of soil and compost with seeds embedded in them. The seed balls were to be dried up for 2 days and then to be used to sow in any type of soil. The major advantages of seed balls is that, it is undetected by birds and animals, it doesn’t get washed up in rain, it keeps the seed fresh. The students enthusiastically made a lot of seed balls with a variety of seeds in them, namely: Okra, Brinjal, Bottle Gourd, Bitter Gourd, Spinach, Pulses, French Beans and Cluster Beans. The students were appreciated by our beloved Principal Sir, and they were happy to have gotten their hands and themselves a little dirty in order to make the environment a little greener and a little better.

Class III- “Green is Serene” in this activity students drew posters depicting importance of trees in our lives and the beauty, tranquility added by our green friends in our surroundings.” Be Safe with Medicinal plant” activity introduced students about herbal and medicinal use of the plants and their use in everyday life. Poster making activity on “Save girl child” spread the message of empowering a girl to grow up healthy, educated and safe. As UNO has declared 11th July to be celebrated as World Population Day, an activity conducted for the same to spread the awareness about the exploding world population and related population issues.
Class IV- My garden of peace”- activity aimed to express the students’ imagination of a garden in their school which would be a place to enjoy peace. They depicted this by showing lots of greenery, colourful flower with buzzing bees through the poster in their note book. The Amazing World of Plants activity helped them to understand benefits of trees in pollution control, in prevention of soil erosion and in maintenance of ecological balance. An informative Quiz on the amazing world of plants was conducted which enriched the students knowledge about the topic. Role play on Chipko Movement– A Non –Violent movement with the aim of protection and conservation of trees and forest from being destroyed. This idea about movement was shared through discussion and interesting video with the students. Thereafter with a role play students showed their conviction for tree plantation drive, and to spread awareness about benefits of trees. Vertical Gardens: An Innovative way to preserve Greenery. The concept behind Vertical gardens was explained through pictures and videos with the students. Students shared their ideas regarding promotion of vertical gardens and they designed one on their own in their notebook.
SUNDERBANS-THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE – An activity on world’s largest delta –Sunderban Delta was conducted to make the students aware that Sunderbans supports an exceptional level of biodiversity in both the terrestrial and marine environments. They learnt that the world’s largest Mangrove forest here is the home of Royal Bengal Tigers Thereafter students drew the diagram of delta for more clarity and they wrote about the importance of this eco system. To commemorate the victory of Kargilan activity MY PRIDE -Kargil Vijay Divas was conducted. Students discussed about this successful operation of India army. Students drew mountain scenery and wrote the ill effect of war on Himalaya. The Van Mahotsav celebration ended with tree plantation drive by the students under the guidance of their teachers. Students planted saplings and also promised to take care of them and also of the plants and trees around them.
Topic: International Tiger Day
On the occasion of ‘International Tiger Day’ INTACH school group had organized various activities to bring in a sense of belonging and care among children for our environment and its resources. The Class VI students’ narrated folk tales with tiger as a character. The young enthusiastic story tellers came forth with wonderful moral based stories highlighting different values of life. Class VII students designed coins with tiger as a symbol. Through their coins the students depicted the magnificence of tigers. Class VIII students designed front page of newspaper taking news and facts associated with the tiger. Through their newspaper the children also highlighted the measures that can be taken to protect tigers.
Trees are important necessary and valuable for our existence. Without trees humans would not be able to exist on this beautiful planet and now with each passing day our need for trees is more than ever. INTACH school group celebrated the spirit of Van Mahotsav on 17th July 2018 for the students of middle school. The class was divided into groups and students did a Poster making activity on “Natural Healers”. Students wrote the benefits of 4-5 medical plants along with illustrations. Each class has adopted a small plant and will nurture it. The children were very enthusiastic about the activity. This activity served the dual purpose of education and leaning for the students.
The Film it Content Workshop was held on 24th July 2018 at INTACH, New Delhi. It was attended by students of classes VII along with their teacher. The workshop aimed at sensitizing young students about the importance of making films on Indian culture and heritage. The welcome address was given by Ms. Purnima Datt. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Feisal Alkazi eminent theatre personality, film director and author of some immensely popular children’s books. He introduced the students to the process of film making and shared valuable insights on how to choose a theme and a valid subject, create an accurate opening note, add suspense, etc. that makes a short film crisp and concise. The themes of this year’s films were shared and also few short films were shown during the session to help the children have an insight into the world of film making and become commendable film makers.
Topic: International Tiger Day
Our school organised an activity in collaboration with INTACH with the goal to promote the protection of the natural habitat of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. The students of class IX worked in groups to create the front page of a newspaper with information and drawings related to the cause.
Yogasanas are an ancient method to keep the body fit and mind healthy. Every year GIIS try to inculcate values related to Yoga and in the event to do the same an entire week starting from 18th June was dedicated to Yoga and the students were acquainted with the benefits of Yoga. They were helped to understand the various postures of Yogasanas by the teachers in the school. The students enjoyed practising the various asanas. The teachers guided the students in attaining confidence in the various postures that they attempted.
An integrated project presentation was conducted on 15th of June 2018, to showcase the talents of the students in field of Literature, Science and various other subjects where students could enhance their literary, scientific and presentation skills. The Grade V students presented their integrated project on the topic “THE BANYAN TREE”. The students spoke about its historical, mythological, scientific importance and also presented a value based skit and poems in English and Hindi. The students of grade IV presented beautiful drawings and recited heartwarming poems on the topic ‘Season’. The choice of poetries was commendable and the explanation of the model was much appreciable. The parents liked the presentation and were happy with their wards efforts. This event gave the students how seasons is deeply connected to Literature and Art.
A poem recitation competition was organized on 19th June, where the students actively participated. They recited various poems on various themes such as fiction, nature, comedy with great joy. The competition helped the students to enhance their competitive and reciting skills. Kudos to the efforts put in by the students and their teachers to have put up a great show.
The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 20th June with a great enthusiasm with the support of parental engagement. Mrs. Shalaka Dere, mother of Ruhani Dere helped our students to understand the value of exercise and correct postures in day to day life. The students learnt about various ASANS which will help them to live a healthy life.
On June 21st, a parental engagement programme on “Good Manners” was conducted in class V-D. Students were sensitized with good manners to be followed in doing their regular course of activities whether it is school, home or neighbourhood.
On 22nd June, a parental engagement for grade IV J was also conducted where Mrs. Trupti Rathod came and narrated a story to the students. The story, ‘The magician and the snake’ was cherished by the students thoroughly. She interacted with the students and spoke about the moral of the story as well. The children were very happy and understood the essence of being a cautious citizen.

Earth Day
Several activities were conducted to mark the celebration of Cultural Diversity Day and Museum Day for class III, IV and V.
Class III: UTOPIA– Students were given a task to design their own eco-friendly planet and write few lines describing it. In this activity, mentors discussed about the eco-friendly ways in which we all can contribute to save our Earth. Students discussed about different cultures and took few good things from each culture to make their own ideal planet.
With SUPERB PROVERBS activity mentors talked about the significance of languages and different languages spoken across the globe. Students were taught how to speak Sorry and Thank You in different languages. Proverbs from around the world were also explained. For example – Proverbs about WISDOM – ‘’Wisdom cannot be bought for money (African), All wisdom is not taught in your school (Hawaiian), Too much wisdom is folly (German), Wisdom adorns old age (Russian), Wisdom without use is fire without warmth (Swedish)"
Students of class IV celebrated Cultural Diversity Day as part of INTACH activity for the month of May. ‘BE MY FRIEND’ activity was done where students greeted each other in any local or foreign language that they know. This activity helped children to learn more about different types of languages spoken in India as well as all over the world and that all languages play an important role in inculcation of basic? human values no matter how different they are.
With ‘FOLKLORE ACTIVITY’ children were introduced to the enchanting world of folklore to understand the characteristics of one's culture. They enjoyed telling short stories and also heard carefully to discuss the moral of the story. This activity clarified several belief systems and showed variety of our culture.
Activity ‘GALLERY STROLL’ enhanced the creativity of children as they made posters on unity in diversity of Indian culture. Later, they showcased them and enjoyed a gallery stroll.
Children were shown video on famous monuments of the world during ‘Magical Monuments’ activity. Later, an open discussion was held on the topic on how they were built and why we must protect them. This helped ? in making them aware about the ways to save the monuments till posterity.
Mother’s/ Father’s Day card making activity was done with great zeal. This inculcated gratitude and bond of love was strengthened. A class assembly also was organized on the topic Our Value System.
With UNIQUE MUSEUMS OF THE WORLD activity the class 5 children were given an introduction to what are museums, why are they set up, where in India do we have popular museums. They were shown videos of museums around the world. They wrote about 5 interesting and unique museums of the world and why these museums are so popular. They were intrigued to learn about quite a few fascinating museums of the world. The class turned into museum showcasing the talent of each child during CREAT a MUSEUM activity. Using the pencil shavings, children creatively displayed their art work. They used colours, glue and pencil shavings to make a frame for these masterpieces as displayed them in the class. Children were encouraged to come in front and talk about the unique thought behind their art work and even autograph their work, before it was displayed.
In Map my India activity, children were given a political map of India. Using the Atlas, children coloured the Heritage site map of India. They coloured and pasted this map in notebooks for later reference. By this they learnt about several heritage sites being restored in our country and varied colours would depict the diversity of our nation. A special assembly was conducted during the month to lay emphasis on cultural diversity and value system.
Heritage walk to Chandani Chowk, spic macay- kathak dance, Mother’s Day card making activity
In collaboration with team ITIHAAS, an educational trip for the students of class VIII was orgaised to Chandni Chowk. The students initiated their walk from St. Stephen’s Church where they were given a brief history about the church. The students got an opportunity to interact with the Imam of the Fatehpuri Mosque where questions about the Islamic law and history of the mosque were answered. The students then visited Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib where Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded on the order of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The walk enlightened the students that the essence of all religions is one although their approach may be different.
To promote cultural awareness among students, a lecture-cum-demonstration by the renowned Odissi dancer, Padamshree Smt. Ranjana Gauhar was organized in the school auditorium, under the aegis of SPICMACAY. The programme was attended by the students of class VII. Smt. Ranjana Gauhar, took the students through the journey of understanding the nuances of the Odissi dance form by giving valuable insights. She spoke about how the language of dance transcends all boundaries. Her performance along with her team of musicians and accompanists comprising of Ms. Vrinda Chadha, Mr. Vinod Kevin Bachan, Pandit Rama Chandra Sahu, Shri Dheeraj Pandey, Shri Prafulla Mangaraj and Ms. Devyani left the audience spellbound. An interaction with the students made the session not only enjoyable but also informative. It was an unforgettable life experience for the students as they were exposed to the rich cultural heritage of India.
Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in many countries. Students of class VI and VII made beautiful cards for their mothers on 11th May, 2018 as a token of love and appreciation for all that they do for them. Their excitement and enthusiasm shone bright as they made colourful and attractive cards. The activity gave them an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills.
The history students of classes 11 and 12 visited the National Museum in Delhi. A documentary on the Indus Valley Civilization was shown to the students. The movie highlighted various aspects and features of the civilization – the important cities and sites, town planning (drainage system, citadel, and lower town), agriculture (ploughed fields), art and sculpture, seals, etc. The students were then taken to different galleries where artifacts, paintings and sculptures of different time periods were showcased.
The students were shown a skeleton from an actual burial and told about how subsequently important information about people’s lives was derived from the skeletons. The next gallery was based on the Mauryan, Gupta and Shunga- Satavahana Age where we saw various inscribed edicts, stone sculptures and pillars from the stupas of the particular periods. The Buddhist art gallery had sculptures and paintings of Buddha. Original relics of Buddha were also present and we saw a Buddhist praying to the relics with full devotion. The gallery on tribal lifestyle of North-East India (particularly the Naga tribe) was focused on the apparel, head gear, jewellery, ornaments, etc. of the people. The next gallery included a huge collection of musical instruments which were donated to the museum by Mrs. Sharan Rani Backliwal who was the first female instrumentalist of India. Another gallery on wood carvings had a beautiful stone dome of a Gujarat temple which was intricately carved from techniques used in the Mughal era. It depicted the 24 gods of jainas. The arms and armour gallery showcased the swords of Mughal emperors like Tipu Sultan, Aurangzeb, etc. Elephant and horse armours and miniature sized swords made for the princes were among the other pieces in the gallery. The last gallery was based on coins belonging to various periods (Gupta, Mauryan, Kushana, Delhi sultanate, Cholas, Mughal, British, post- independence, etc.). Overall, the visit was extremely informative and was an enriching experience for everyone. It was wonderful to see so many artifacts that tell us about our heritage.
On the occasion of World Heritage Day GIIS Indore planned a visit to Raj Wada for grade 6th students. Raj Wada is a historic monument of the erstwhile Holkar dynasty of the Maratha Empire about two centuries ago; and it is a pride of Indore. Built in 1749 by Malhar Rao Holkar, the building which was the residence of the Holkars is a combination of Maratha, Mughal and French architectural styles, with an imposing façade that leads into a central courtyard and a royal garden. The first floor of the building is a museum which has paintings of the royal family, display of arms & ammunition, currency, weight used in ancient era. The students were enthralled to see old age Dictaphone and Reneo old set, a dictation machine a first sound recording device most commonly used to record speech for later playback or to be typed into print. The students were fascinated to see ancient weapons (swords, guns, bullets and cannons), exquisite vases, pots and utensils. They explored and felt the essence of past by observing the things preserved. The visit also gave them an opportunity to all the students to be acquainted with vast cultural and history of Holkar era.
Students of GIIS Indore also conducted Nukkad natak on “Beti Suraksha” which highlighted issues of sexual abuse, gender based discrimination at home and crime against women and concerning about their growth and safety. The show was presented in Malwa Utsav on 7th and 8th May. Malwa Utsav is a flagship cultural event to celebrate the tradition of Malwa and is organised and conducted by the Indore city administrative body. Every year this event witnesses thousands and lakhs of people who mark their presence at this event. Under the guidance of Principal Ma’am, the students performed in LALBAGH with lots of zeal and enthusiasm. They performed the act for about 7-8 times, as the act was of around 10-12 minutes on both the days. The students designed the props for the play and depicted the story with fineness on the eve of 7th and 8th May. It was also heartening to see the huge crowd enjoying and cheering for the students who so finely portrayed each character. They all appreciated and praise the efforts of students and school to rose such an alarming issues related to the safety of the woman in society and importance of self-defense training.
The show was ended on the note that with changing times, role of women have diversified so the issues concerning their growth, safety and development should now take a centre stage. The role of men is very important here. The youth would have to take the lead in this Men have to make sure that girls get an equal opportunity in every sector. The institution of family should revive its responsibility not to discriminate in gender based discrimination at home. The sons and daughters should be treated equally. The perspective towards women should change to positivism and respect. The people felt that girls and women should be groomed well so that they can take decisions for their own selves.
Mr. Shankar Lalwani chairman Indore Development Authority (IDA) came to witness the event more than twice and praised our students and the initiative taken by GIIS-Indore. Act was prepared by Mrs. Meena Joshi, Mr. Pramod, & Mr. Dhaval. The Complete GIIS teams, right from principal ma’am, both the coordinators, admission team were present during the complete event on both the days. Extra support staff members were deployed to take care of Student’s safety and security.

A 3D model of the Residency was displayed beautifully along with the original letter written by the Resident, murals, Chinese Porcelain, portraits etc. The museum was breathtaking and praiseworthy and left the students spellbound and thoughtful of the history of India. The trip gave them a first -hand experience to learn the struggle and sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the First War of Independence. The students also realize the need to preserve and conserve our heritage and the trip gave constructive outlook to spread awareness about conservation of national and cultural heritage for prosperity. Aspiring archaeologists of tomorrow of The Foundation School, Josip Broz Tito Marg, New Delhi visited the excavation site at Purana Qila on 1st May, 2018 to take a peek at the nuts and bolts of the archaeological excavation, its features and the artifacts found with an objective to ignite in them the curiosity and respect for their heritage. The trip was announced for Classes VI and VII and the children’s excitement knew no bounds when they heard that they were actually going to witness an excavation. All this while, they had only read about archaeological sources of history in their history lessons! “Are we really going to see the artifacts that were buried underground thousands of years ago?” was their query.
On reaching the site and having the ASI official explain about the process of such excavations, the students had a number of queries, “How deep do you dig the trenches? How do you know that the pots belonged to a particular period? Don’t the artifacts break while digging?”etc. They demonstrated immense enthusiasm in seeking information about the past and were elated when they were allowed to touch and feel the beads, figurines, broken pots and a crochet needle excavated at the site. The students found the trip very interesting and learnt a lot!"
The tangible experience was indeed educative, exciting and enjoyable. A special assembly was conducted at School the next day where the students shared photographs and their experiences with the other classes through a PPT and worked on a worksheet.
On the occasion of world heritage World Heritage Day on 18 April 2018, the heritage club of Oriental Seminary School observed the day by organizing a programme featuring a Drawing Competition among the members. The children were asked to draw a picture of any heritage object of the city and write a brief description on it. The contest evoked enthusiasm among the members. The first, second and third position winners were given prizes. It was followed by the screening of three short films on heritage. As the day coincided with Akshay Tritiya, an interactive session was held to make the members aware of the importance of the festival. Passports and badges were handed over to the new members at the end of the programme. The programme came to a close with the distribution of sweets.

Some of the interesting activities conducted were- Heritage Week, during which activities like Tribal Art competition and a food festival was also organized. An exhibition on Antique items was also organized to help the children understand the importance of ancient items and understand its value.
Some of the activities taken up were, visiting the textile museum, playing and learning traditional games, visit to the temples to understand the architecture and a chance to visit Vidhya Vanam, a tribal school at the rural area known as Aanaikatti. The visit has given the students to experience the variety of art and crafts of the tribal people and helped then the importance of keeping our traditions alive.
The School has also organised various activities such as celebration of Earth Day, Vanmahostav, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Children’s Day, Christmas etc. Heritage week was also celebrated by visiting the Dattatray temple. The students actively participated in cleaning the temple. The whole week was celebrated by visiting various other places and activities such as art and craft workshop, visit to old age home, Lakhota Lake Museum etc.
Some of the interesting activity organised by the school was a “Rally for Rivers” to create awareness on protecting rivers and water bodies. The Rally began from Sirpur Lake, where a cleanliness drive was carried out by the students and school authorities. Students also prepared a documentary on the dying rivers of India. A visit was also organized to BSF CSWT Campus to create awareness and provide an opportunity for students to observe the functions, roles, and develop respect towards the armed forces for their sacrifices and their contributions to the society.

Various activities were taken up by the school. Some of the interesting activity organized was Manuscript designing, which was a poster making and slogan writing competition on the occasion of World Heritage Day. The students designed beautiful manuscripts in their local language in calligraphic style on the ancient epics of India. Museum day was also celebrated by setting up class museums displaying objects like coins, toys etc. The school also organized an activity on the topic “Amazing Archaeology” to give the students an insight into human civilization and the importance of studying and preserving the past. Students also visited Kiran Nadar Art Museum, National Museum, etc. Other activities included Earth Week celebrations, Cultural Diversity, plant adoption, etc.
The heritage club was formed in 2013 and since its inception the club students along with the teachers have been actively taking part in all heritage activities. They took up various activities on Natural Heritage, Importance of Festivals, Visit to old age home, different art activities etc.
Different activities were organized such as film making workshop, Lecture on Swiss architect Pierre Jeanerette presentation of family heritage, world book day, World Earth Day, heritage food activity, Museum visits etc.
The School organized a Good Citizen Week to bring out the importance of giving back to our society. To bring forth the value and encourage Sanskrit’s use in augmenting the modern system of education a lecture series was organized. In association with SPIC MACAY a Qawwali competition was also held. The school also took up various activities like World Peace Day, world music day, “Reduce Reuse Recycle" etc.

A day trip to spend with the tribal was also organized where the students went on a trip to Tribal Museum to learn the lifestyle of the Adivasi and understand the need to protect the tribal people, the forests and be a responsible citizen. Visit to the zoo, Day with street children were also organized.
The Club activities were- Special Days/Assemblies such as World Heritage Day, World Nature Day, Swachchta Campaign Week, International Day of Peace, India Tourism Day, International Literacy Day, International Tiger Day, celebration on cultural festivals, the students from V – X also took part in Heritage Olympiad conducted by INTACH, Gwalior Chapter. Classes were also provided to students during club meetings and home periods. Important Facts and information were given to students at different times about Heritage. Digital Heritage Session- Quiz and workshop on vedic mathematics was conducted for students. Special workshop on Madhubani and Marbal texture, Mural was given during Art & Craft workshop in LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOP Various heritage visits and clean up drives were also conducted.
Organized activities on Eco Warriors – the initiative aimed at implementing an effective waste management system within the school premises and also to instill in the minds of the students the need to reduce energy consumption and conserve the energy resources for a greener and safer environment. The school also celebrated a day dedicated to Grandparents to help the children understand the importance of grandparents in their lives. The children recited beautiful poems on the bonding between the children and their grandparents. Various other activities were also conducted by the school.

I have always been very enthusiastic about clubs since I reached middle school. I always used to face a hard time deciding which club to choose but choosing heritage club as my ideal club has been a very crucial decision on my side. At first I used to think that clubs were just for fun and have no actual importance, but being in heritage club for two years has actually made me realise how clueless I am regarding my own city, its economy, its heritage sites, the role it plays in India and also its history. Being in this club has definitely made me rethink the rich past. I have always loved and enjoyed the innovative and creative assignments of this club.

Children of class III, IV and V were introduced to INTACH, its mission and prominent work done by the organization. The month of April brought with it the celebration of Earth Day. Following activities were conducted in class III, IV and V respectively.
Healthy Basket activity, made them realize the importance of picking a cloth bag while shopping to reduce plastic. In Personal Hygiene activity videos were shown along with elaborate discussions which helped to know different ways to keep themselves and their surroundings clean. During Social Hygiene activity, they all discussed Good and Bad Touch and drew their safe zone. They learnt ways to maintain social hygiene.
Anagram Activity was also conducted where students were given 10 anagrams to solve. The children learnt new words related to environmental issues. They pledged to take care of the planet and do their bit for the Earth. During Water Cycle Activity children drew water cycle and discussed the role of trees in bringing rain and keeping pollution away. Poster Making Activity based on waste segregation helped them to understand the need and importance of 4R’s – Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Bookmark Making Activity with ecofriendly material and quote reminded them about the need the hour. They were motivated to conserve resources and play a vital role in protecting the Earth. In Sow a Seed activity where children wrote the steps of planting a mango tree. This helped children learn how to sow different seasonal fruits themselves. With Sorting Trash Activity children made six coloured bins and added given options to each bin according to its colour. This made them aware of the importance of sorting trash in different coloured bins for waste disposal. By way of Newspaper Advisory activity, students contemplated and made conversant advertisements about different environmental concerns. Children learnt to reuse newspaper through Paper Bag Making activity. They also brought Green Foodand pledged to turn vegetarian to reduce carbon footprint. Earth Day extravaganza culminated with Street Play and Class Assembly on the topic "Recycle for Better Tomorrow". Students passionately decided to do their part and treat every day as Earth Day.
The INTACH school group had organized an activity on ‘MY FAMILY TREE’ for classes 6th and 7th on 13th April, 18. The children collected photographs of their family members along with pictures of their pastime to make their family tree. The children looked into as many generations as they could and pasted the pictures in hierarchical order. The children learnt about their family history. A postcard making activity was organized for class 8 on the topic ‘Save Our Built Heritage’. The activity made students aware of our monuments and made them realize the need to protect places of historic importance. In collaboration with team ITIHAAS, a pioneer in Heritage Education organized an educational trip to Firoz Shah Kotla was also organized on 21st April. The children visited a Mosque, pyramidal structure, the Ashokan Pillar and the area where river Yamuna was located. It was an enriching experience for the students.
We at GIIS, Chinchwad try to hone various aspects of our students to bring out the best in them and make them the responsible youth of our country. With the commencement of the new session children have joined the school with great zeal and enthusiasm. The children conducted a welcome assembly for their peers and introduced the school infrastructure to the new joiners. In another assemble presented by IV B the children spoke about kindness and the use of various gentle words which are all a part of our culture.
The first house meet was held on April 6, 2018 where students were oriented towards the spirit of their respective houses. They were given an insight into the traits and qualities of the element to which they belong. They were also told about how these elements of nature are interdependent on each other. The students of grade 3, 4 and 5 also took part in Elocution competition where they recited poems from different Indian and foreign authors Kudos to the efforts put in by the students and their teachers to have put up a great show. Magic is an art which is practiced by many and very few excel in the same. We had a spectacular performance from a parent in our school premises. Mr. Mahesh Hegde, father of Advait Hegde enthralled our students with his magic tricks and "Hath ki safai" in a scintillating magic show along with his wife and son Advait Hegde. Kids were excited and loved every bit of it. Investiture ceremony- A platform given to students to form a student council for leadership and inspiration to the students, where Maj. General Chauhan was called in as chief guest. The students have been appointed at various posts in the student council depending upon their overall performance in the previous years. The children took great pride in taking the solemn oath to maintain the standards of the school.
Deccan Academy in association with Oxford Grammar School conducted a five day Sculptors Art workshop at OGS. Eminent personalities in field of Sculpture like Sri Sampat Reddy, Jameel, Sri Shyam Sundar, Sri Surya Prakash and Sri Raghunandan were the creative minds behind their workshop. The various art pieces were made out of scooter rims, empty gas cylinders, bearings, gear rods, silencers, iron rods breaks, springs and other spare automobile parts. The artisans used these materials and created Sculptures like peacocks, tortoise, Turkey, dragon fly, crocodile human head, swan, two girls playing, a man skating, tribal couple, fishes counts and our School logo the Eiffel Tower. The students of OGS keenly observed the various nuances of iron sculpting and tried to imbibe in them the spirit of creativeness. A person who creates some amazing pieces out of any waste materials and gives shape to it as a force of an exotic piece of art is a real artist.
Films on Heritage: On February 8, a few members of our club, led by teacher Ms. Payal Dey, attended the programme of screening of the short films on heritage at Birla High School, Kolkata. They came back with two Best awards in two categories.
Panel discussion on Heritage: On February 13, our teacher and Heritage Club convenor Shri C.P. Ghosal participated in a panel discussion on ‘Heritage Education for The Youth’ at Lincoln Room, American Centre, Kolkata on behalf of our club. His speech on the making of the archive and the heritage club in the school was greatly appreciated by the audience consisting of the heritage activists of different parts of Bengal and a team from Smithsonian Institute of New York, USA.
Heritage Fest: On 24-25 February, a festival on the heritage of north Kolkata was organized by a Hamdasti, a non-profit organization of Kolkata on our school campus. The members of our club volunteered in the festival as guides of the people who had come to visit the old buildings and other heritage sites of north Kolkata that were part of the festival’s attraction.
Heritage location visit for filming: Some members of the club, both students and teachers, visited Latbagan area in Barrackpore which is known for heritage sites of colonial association. The day-long visit on 15 March 2018 was organized for making short films on heritage. It was both an enriching and enjoyable trip for all the members who participated in it.
On the occasion of World Sparrow Day, the students of Oxford Grammar School, Hyderabad took the pledge to protect Sparrows and also organized a signature campaign where all the students enthusiastically participated to protect and conserve Sparrows. Sparrows especially the house sparrows is one of the oldest companion of human beings and was once a common bird but unfortunately in the past few years it has rapidly declined. This issue brings to light the vast degradation of our environment and therefore World Sparrow Day is celebrated to give a platform to conserve and protect not only the sparrows but also our environment.
World Sparrow Day is conducted every year on 20th March to raise awareness of the sparrows, especially the house sparrows and other birds too. It is also a day to appreciate the beauty of our environment which we often take it for granted.
Through the diligent effort of the school principal, the school has been able to place various sparrow nests in the school for the birds to nest and also feed the birds. Sparrows have been seen with the human settlement for ages and it is our duty to protect them.

Global Indian International School celebrates Green Medicine Day every year in memory of Lt. Smt. Kasturba Gandhi who was a great and renowned advocator and supporter of Ayurveda medicines. An exhibition was organized to make students aware of medicinal properties of common herbs and to make them aware of our vast culture of Ayurveda. Students brought many varieties of medicinal plants from their home which contains common ingredients found in our kitchens having medicinal properties i.e tulsi, amla, curry leaves, aloe vera, honey, ginger, turmeric, pepper, lemon, etc. The teachers explained to them about the benefits of Ayurveda and how green medicines are easily available in our own homes. To make the day memorable, students from class 4th went to Sinhasa village near our campus with their teachers and they donated sapling of medicinal plants like neem, aloevera, amla, tulsi etc. to the villagers and explained them regarding the hygiene habits and importance of cleanliness in their surroundings. They marched in the streets of villages spreading the messages of cleanliness and benefits of herbal plants.
A campaign was also raised to create awareness on the rivers that are depleting. GIIS Indore took initiative and joined the mission ‘RALLY FOR RIVERS ‘to create awareness on protecting rivers and water bodies. They started this mission from Sirpur Lake a Bird Sanctuary; Students from class 8th reached the Sirpur Lake and cleaned the areas near it, which had turned into a dump yard. The students conducted the cleanliness drive with the help of school authorities. The cleanliness activity was carried out with much zeal and enthusiasm by the students. Three Students Gourisha Bhatia, Kshitij Bagadia and Yash Vyas from class 9th made a complete research on dying rivers and developed a plot and prepared a short documentary on dying rivers of India, They presented this short movie in GIIS Leaps a unique initiative of GIIS, where students gathered from all the campuses to collaborate, participate, interact and compete with each other and concurrently hone their talents, enhance their personalities. LEAPS 2018 curate events that created a perfect blend of our cultural values and the 21st century pedagogy. GIIS Indore secured 1st position in this category.
Ryan International School, Sector-40, Gurugram is very much into protecting, conserving and highlighting India’s Heritage and Culture so we organize activities and Assemblies to spread awareness amongst students and the society.
The Heritage Club of Ryan International School, sec-40, Gurugram organized a special assembly to mark “National Girl Child Day” on 24th Jan. 2018. The assembly was conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi House students, where they organized a Role Play on five successful Indian women in social, education, politics, sports and management fields. Students enacted as successful women personalities with great confidence and passion. The role play successfully brought out the main aspects and qualities of each women leader. And also inspired and motivated us all on the values and learning from their successful life.
A special assembly was conducted on Martyr’s day on 30th January, 2018 as a remembrance of the martyred souls. The presentation commenced with a brief introduction on the life of Gandhiji and how his role in attaining freedom for India was pivotal. Gandhi ji's three messengers or commonly known as the 'teen bandar' represented the principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The students enthusiastically participated in the assembly to show their gratitude towards the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country and also spoke about Gandhi's principles and ideologies of truth, non-violence, self-sacrifice, peace and love for motherland. Information was provided on the celebrations of Martyrs day in India and assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. They also sang the melodious song 'De di hume azadi bina khadag bina dhaal' which made everyone reflect the sacrifices of this great soul. Our School Head Ms. Nisha Sharma appreciated the assembly and added that we should each walk on the path shown by Gandhi ji and feel the sense of responsibility towards the country and developed love and respect for the martyrs.
Some of the other activities performed for the month of January are Declamation Competition: Topic - "Rights and duties go hand in hand on, Role play competition: Topic- “An inspiring freedom fighter", Slogan writing competition: "My Nation My Pride", Art Expression: "Tricolour placard making activity".
Littering and pollution is a major issue around the world today. It affects all of our lives, and will affect us for years to come. It is the result of careless attitudes and improper handling. We can prevent all this harm to our planet by reducing, reusing and recycling. We can save so much of earth by making it look better and keeping it clean and putting things where they belong if we don’t litter. Indore Municipal Corporation has run a serious drive to segregate waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. The waste which can be recycled is separated and sent to various places for treatment or recycling. The biodegradable waste is being turned to compost. Keeping this in mind GIIS group of schools initiated a drive against – LITTERING. No Litter Campaign was the projects given to the students of GIIS. All the students have shown immense enthusiasm and energy in running this drive successfully in Indore City. Indore has set a benchmark by securing first position in cleanliness of surroundings.
Best out Of Waste- A step towards 3 R’s. Different useful products like ice cream sticks, CDs and used bottles were used to create table Dustbins and eco-friendly Dustbins. The dustbins were placed in the school to make the students aware of littering and making the premises clean.
Beautiful posters with catchy and informative designs were made and also used during the campaign.
A campaign rally or a march can be an extremely powerful way of expressing public feeling on an issue. The same idea had been used to spread the message. Flyers, posters and slogans were used to encourage people to participate in No Litter Campaign.
Drama and song are the best means to spread message of awareness. The students of Class VI presented a ‘Nukkad Natak’ on NO LITTER at one of the busiest squares of Indore. The people gathered around to view the act. The posters, slogans and the voice of kids moved the people. A local channel had covered the complete act. People got the message and understood that it is our individual duty not to spread litter and ask others also to do the same.
IMC- Indore Municipal Corporation has deployed around 10000 safaikarmis in all the areas of Indore. These people come with the Garbage Collection Vehicle and collect dry and wet garbage separately from all the houses. These people are diligently working day and night to keep Indore clean. Even during Diwali they were present on their duties even at evening for collecting garbage. IMC and safaikarmis are very strict with all the people, shopkeepers and vendors for any act against the rules. People are now fined for spreading litter.
Some resource persons from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation came to Oxford Grammar School on 9th February 2018 to create awareness on the mission the State Government civic body would be intensifying its activities for attaining higher level of cleanliness and sanitation in the city. Biodegradable carry bags are distributed to students. A rally was also organized where the students took active participation
On 17th February, on the occasion of Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandra Sekhar Rao’s Birthday, Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan urged the school teachers, students and various organizations to participate in Swachh Survekshan which was held at Uppal Stadium. Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy urged people to make the city secure the top position in cleanliness, at “Swachh Surveskhan 2018 campaign. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is striving hard to improve its performance in the Swachh Survekshan 2018 rankings by conducting different awareness programmes and involving citizens in different initiatives. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has urged the citizens to give a missed call on 1969 and help Hyderabad bag top position. The Oxford Grammar school took active participation in the swachh campaign.
The young Intach members of KLE’s International School visited the Kittur Fort. Kittur Chennamma was the Queen of Kittur, a princely state in Karnataka and she was one of the Indian female rulers to lead an armed rebellion against the British East India Company in 1824 because of the effect of doctrine of lapse. In the state of Karnataka, she is celebrated along with Abbakka Rani, Keladi Chennamma and Onake Obavva, as the foremost women warriors and patriots.
The young students toured the ruins of Kittur Fort to understand more about the great queen Rani Chennamma of Kittur. They also visited a museum which displays numerous articles of that period. The students learnt the amount of sacrifices that were done to achieve freedom and value their freedom more.
The students also visited a bangle factory nearby which produces glass bangles. They were mesmerized by the beauty of the bangles and the art of bangle making. It was a lovely and a great learning experience.
Balachelimi in association with School Radio conducted a 3 day workshop i.e., from 23rd January to 25th January, 2018 on School Radio at Oxford Grammar School, St. No. 13, Himayatnagar, Hyderabad. The Chief Guest for the program was Prof. Vinod Pavarala, UNESCO, Chair on community media, University of Hyderabad and Mr. Sumanaspati Reddy, Program Head, All India Radio, Adilabad. The workshop focused on orienting the students on improvising Communication skills, Enhancing Public Presentation skills, Building confidence levels. It also creates the platform to showcase their talents in creativity, innovations, technology and also to find solutions in their respective fields of study.
On the 31st Hyderabad Book Fair, the students of Oxford Grammar School performed a classical dance, Bihu dance and Lavani dance for the inaugural on 18th Jan for the inaugural function. The 31st Hyderabad Book Fair was inaugurated at NTR Stadium by Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy and closing ceremony was attended by Minister Harish. The book fair is a 10-day affair ending on January 28th. The organisers have listed an interesting line up of events on all the 10 days to attract children to the fair. The concluding day would saw Okka Nimsham (one minute) where contestants spoke for a minute in Telugu without using a single word of English. There are 213 participating booksellers this year. A painting competition was also held in collaboration with Oxford Grammar School on 21st Jan 2018 for classes 1 to 10 where the students took active participation. The students also performed a puppet show on 20th Jan.
Global Indian International School has always encouraged the students to remain in touch with their culture and history. Each festival is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm and same was done on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. The teachers narrated stories of Makar Sankranti to the children of grades 3 to 5 and the children wrote some beautiful stories relevant to today’s era keeping the festival of kites in mind.
It was even more colourful and fascinating for the children of grades 1 and 2 as they participated in the inter house Kite making competition. The entire area of the 1st graders was beaming with beautiful colourful kites.
The school also observed a weeklong celebration for the 69th Republic Day where special assemblies were conducted across various grades. Global Indian International School strives to make Patriotism a way of living for our students and instils in them the pride of belonging to one of the oldest nations of the world. The pride of being Indians resonated in the hallways of the school during the Republic Day celebrations, a perfect platform for our students to reflect on their patriotic selves.
The school caters to the artistic needs of the children as well. As part of our extra-curricular activities we conduct Hobby Clubs on various fortes. We put up the artwork learnt by the students in this session along with music, dance, drama etc. The hobby club includes various skills like needle work, theatre, drawing and painting. All this is surely leading to the holistic development of the students of GIIS which the society of today if looking forward to.
The DHAATU INTERNATIONAL PUPPET FESTIVAL 2018 was held in Bangalore (Bengaluru), India held from December 31st 2017 to 7th Jan 2018. Students of 8th grade from Oxford Grammar school, Hyderabad performed a puppet show name "Bantuklal and cucumber". A puppet parade representing various Countries and States like Moscow and St. Peters burg from Russia, Germany and Austria and from India, Telangana, Mumbai and Gujarat performed at the puppet show. On the closing ceremony, the students were awarded with participation certificate and memento by Anupama Hoskera Festival Director, Dhaatu International Puppet festival.
A workshop was organized on 3rd of January by the National jute Board at Oxford Grammar School. It was a student outreach programme to motivate the school students – the future decision making citizens of India, to shift towards using more eco-friendly products in their daily life, to save the earth from Pollution. This is really an extension to the Swachh Bharat Mission of the Govt. of India. The jute fibre is a renewable natural resource with excellent ecological characteristics, is light in weight, low in cost, non-toxic, biodegradable, and recyclable. As jute is biodegradable environment-friendly natural fibre, it is becoming more acceptable in an ecologically conscious modern world. The hazards of using synthetics and plastic products are being experienced every day, though not always noticed, through the clogged drains and death of grazing animals Spot Quiz contests, slogan / poster contests was arranged and as a token of recognition and incentive, jute products useful for the students are awarded. Two decorative items of Jute conveying the message of the usage of jute was presented to the school for their permanent display.
The School also celebrated Sankranti on the 11th of January. The festival marks the beginning of a six months auspicious period for Hindus known as Uttarayana period. Makar Sankranti is an important pan-Indian solar i.e harvest festival. The festival was celebrated to let the students know the significance of the festival. A Kite flying competition, Rangoli competition was held and also a skit was performed by students at the festival.
The 69th Republic Day was celebrated at Epistemo Global with great pride. The entire school was festooned in the bright saffron white and green colours of the national flag, as students and staff gathered to celebrate the momentous occasion with patriotic fervour. The occasion was graced by the distinguished dignitaries, executive member of the board of Samaikya Group, Ms. Padma Kolli, Ms. Lakshmi Krishnan, Counsellor and Head of Centre of Excellence, our Principal Mr. Ravi Kumar and our teaching faculty. The Celebration began with the hoisting of the national flag followed by the singing of the national anthem. It was then followed by the march past from the students of the four distinctive houses namely Odysseus, Pythagoras, Archimedes and Socrates and also a performance of a song “Sare Jahan Se Accha by Grade 3 and 4 with utmost spirit and zeal. The learners displayed synchronisation and team work which helps raising their self-esteem, developing self-confidence and realising leadership and coordination skills as a team. The Principal Mr. Ravi Kumar addressed the audience and reinforced their confidence with words of inspiration. The learners also performed smart display drills using colourful pom-poms and rings as props. The purpose of drills was to hone the fine motor abilities, co-ordination, speed, balance and sharp reflexes. Learners of Grade 1 and 2 conveyed a beautiful message through their endearing dance performance in which they emphasized on the need to foster peace, harmony, respect, unity and brotherhood amongst people to overcome divisive forces that constantly try to tear us apart. Learners also showcased their energy, enthusiasm and teamwork in a wonderful display of pyramid. Finally, the floor was open for the little dancers who gave a splendid performance.
