Have a look at the great efforts made by our wonderful Heritage Clubs
The heritage club at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Jubilee Hills Hyderabad got the Best Heritage Club Award 2011-12. The work and effort of teachers, parents and students is outstanding. The activities ranged from- site visits, heritage walks, heritage week celebrations, awareness programmes, art workshops, eco-friendly works and much more. D. Sreeja of VIIIth standard writes "I can now proudly say that I shall respect and preserve my heritage, the nation’s heritage and all thanks to our schools heritage club and of course INTACH.” The members adopted a school in Nakkalapalli Village as a part of their social service camp. The students visited an old age home, a blind school, an ashram and even a goshala. Their efforts are remarkable and students have participated in every activity wholeheartedly.
Bluebells International School Delhi has shown real enthusiasm for heritage walks all over Delhi in an initiative so that students understand and love the city they reside in. They visited the Fort of Tughlaqabad, Tomb of Adham Khan, Gandhak Ki Baoli, Zafar Mahal, Sadarjung’s Tomb, Qutab Minar, Mehrauli Archaeological Park and Crafts Museum. The students made amazing short films in the Filmit Project 2012. They have been an actively contributed for Young INTACH newsletters. The schools heritage club hopes to create an environment where the students take part in active citizenship and champion the cause of India’s past.
Sri Sankara Vidyashramam Matriculation, Higher Secondary School, Chennai has been active throughout the year, as they have celebrated many days on monthly basis, ranging from road safety week in January 2011 to National Disability day in December 2011. Apart from the different theme days every month, the school participated in Madras Day celebrations held all over Chennai. The club Parampara aims at providing holistic citizenship training to the students and opportunities to appreciate the value of ancient heritage. They have organized walks, exhibitions, cultural events and competitions too, in which students actively participated.
The students of G.D Salwan School, Delhi adopted a monument built in 14th century named ‘Bhatiyari ka Mahal’ .They have done a wonderful job in taking care the monument and one of the students even dedicated a poem to the same. The members of the heritage club ‘Dharohar’ students participated in the many events and competitions
Students participated in an essay writing competition at Red Fort- celebrating Heritage Week.
Sri Sankara Sr. Secondary School, Chennai had a colorful year with festive celebrations. Students of standard VII and VIII participated in cultural events showcasing the diverse folk and cultural dances of various states. Poetry competition and food mela was organized to celebrate Van Mahotsav and Tourism Day respectively.
The members of heritage club at GHSS, Pervallur Malappuram, Kerala- have done a unique work. A house Malappuram district of Kerala, called Edathola House is a best specimen for Kerala’s Architectural style. The club members visited this home and collected the names of rare documents preserved in the home. For them "Heritage begins at Home". The club has organized activities and events every month and thus has been active throughout the year.
Finally to say that heritage clubs all over India make a difference.
