Sheth C. N. English Medium School, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has established a Heritage Club to educate, inspire, and connect students with history. Two teachers and twenty students were selected as members of the club.
As part of their activities, the school organized a visit to the L.D. Museum, Ahmedabad, on 19th February. This renowned museum houses an exceptional collection of sculptures, manuscripts, paintings, and artifacts. The sculpture section featured intricately crafted stone and bronze statues, showcasing remarkable artistic expertise. Ancient manuscripts provided valuable insights into historical texts and scripts. The painting gallery exhibited vibrant artworks depicting significant historical events and cultural heritage. Additionally, the artifacts, including coins and tools, offered a fascinating glimpse into past civilizations. Each exhibit was well-preserved and highly informative, enhancing the students’ understanding and appreciation of art, history, and cultural evolution.
During the visit, students were divided into groups and assigned various tasks, such as creating live sketches, recording videos explaining the significance of the exhibits, preparing PowerPoint presentations, and designing quizzes based on their observations. Following the visit and completion of these activities, they were given the task of developing a website for the Heritage Club. The INTACH INTACH Heritage Club Students of Visakha Valley School went on a field trip to Erra Matti Dibbalu, Natural Arch and other Beach areas. The visit was educational, where the students learned about the geological significance and ecological importance of these sites.
Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makara), signalling the end of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days. It is celebrated across India with various regional customs, but the underlying themes of gratitude, generosity, and community remain constant.
Members of INTACH Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar Public School celebrated Makarsakranti in the following manner
1. Til ladoo making: Til (sesame seeds) are traditional eaten on Makarsakranti in various
forms.Students made til ladoo to celebrate the festival.
2. Sitoliya : Makarsakranti marks playing of traditional games like Sitoliya
3. Kite Making and Decoration Activity: Kite flying was one of the significant parts of maker sakranti celebration and thus Kite Making and Decoration Activity was organised for students of class eighth.
A Heritage Walk: Exploring Historic Sites
The school organized a field trip to enrich students' knowledge in a hands-on manner, free from the constraints of textbooks. These engaging excursions took place at significant locations such as the Governor House, Kala Bhoomi, State Museum, and Tribal Museum.
Honoring Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai
Students delivered a dynamic performance, showcasing the courage and patriotism of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Surendra Sai.
February began with enthusiasm, fostering love for nature and global awareness through special observances.
World Wetlands Day (2nd February)
Students of classes III-V explored the ecological importance of wetlands through a PowerPoint presentation, bird illustrations, and a JAM session on conservation efforts.
World Radio Day (13th February)
Class V students learned about radio’s history and impact through videos and a presentation, followed by an activity illustrating its role in communication.
INTACH Inter-School Poster Making Competition (4th February)
Hosted by DPS Gurgaon in collaboration with INTACH, the competition celebrated India’s heritage. The event featured esteemed guests, cultural performances, and artistic expressions, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s diversity.
National Science Day – 'Seek: Ek Khoj'
Students of classes VI-VIII engaged in hands-on experiments, discussions, and demonstrations, exploring science’s impact on daily life and global challenges.
Filmit Festival 2025 (4th February)
Held at CD Deshmukh Hall, Delhi, the festival showcased student-made films promoting cultural understanding. DPS Gurgaon won:
Best Film: Papad Chronicles (Sparsh Vaish & Ishan Dutt Thakur, Class VIII)
Best Screenplay: Dilli Ki Dhadkan – Kinaari Bazaar (Kashvee Dhawan & Aditi Adlakha, Class VIII)
Senior School
With classes X and XII preparing for Board exams and IX and XI focused on finals, extracurricular activities are on hold and will resume next session.
January was filled with activities celebrating India’s cultural diversity, history, and natural beauty.
National Tourism Day (25th January)
Class III students illustrated dos and don’ts of responsible tourism, promoting sustainable travel. Class V created colorful flipbooks showcasing India’s famous tourist destinations.
Republic Day (26th January)
Class III students learned about Republic Day’s significance and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s role in shaping the Constitution. A PowerPoint presentation enriched their understanding, and they expressed patriotism through drawings of the national flower, Lotus.
Harvest Festivals of India
Students created vibrant comic strips depicting Pongal, Bihu, Lohri, and Makar Sankranti, exploring regional traditions and festivities.
Republic Day
Classes VII and VIII participated in a quiz on constitutional principles, followed by a pledge-taking ceremony reinforcing unity and patriotism.
Poster Making
Students artistically depicted secularism through posters, illustrating themes of unity, religious harmony, and the Constitution’s vision.
Senior School
With Board and final term exams underway, extracurricular activities for classes IX–XII are on hold and will resume in the new academic session.
