Agra-Bharatpur Trip
From 30th September to 1st October 2024, 120 students of classes IV and V visited Agra and Bharatpur. They explored Agra Fort, the Taj Mahal, and Keoladeo National Park, learning about India's historical architecture and natural biodiversity.
Dussehra Assembly
On 7th October 2024, Satluj House presented a special Dussehra assembly at Delhi Public School, Gurgaon, celebrating the triumph of good over evil through a skit and dance performance. Ms. Sapna Dhawan, Dean of Student Welfare, encouraged students to lead righteous lives.
World Food Day
On 16th October 2024, Class IV students researched the national foods of two countries, in line with the theme "Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future."
Dilli Darshan
An educational trip in October for classes III to V took students to Delhi’s historical and scientific landmarks, such as Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Gandhi Smriti, and Nehru Planetarium. The trip fostered an appreciation for India's heritage and scientific achievements.
Jal Itihaas Programme
In collaboration with ITIHAAS, DPS introduced "water classrooms" for 5th graders in October to raise awareness about water conservation through hands-on activities.
Sahyog Diwali Fete & Founder's Day
On 19th October 2024, DPS Gurgaon celebrated its 23rd Founder's Day with a Diwali fete, featuring performances, food stalls, and fun activities. The event emphasized kindness, empathy, and environmental responsibility.
Wildlife Week
On 8th October 2024, middle school students participated in an INTACH initiative during Wildlife Week, creating "The Elephant Chronicle" to raise awareness about elephant conservation and threats like poaching.
Confluence
On 7th October 2024, Class VI students showcased India’s cultural diversity through dance, festivals, and artefacts as part of the NEP 2020-aligned event, "Confluence."

Senior School
Dharohar Club – Heritage Quiz The Dharohar Club organized a heritage quiz for classes IX to XII, testing students' knowledge of India’s cultural heritage and raising awareness about the need for preservation. The Heritage Quiz succeeded in its goal of raising awareness about India's cultural heritage among students.
On October 18, 2024, 82 students from classes 9 to 12 visited the new building of theParliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) as part of an educational trip aimed atunderstanding the legislative process. Students explored the modern architecture andfacilities of the new Parliament building, learning about its significance in contemporarygovernance. The group had the opportunity to observe both the houses. An interactivesession with Parliamentary staff allowed students to inquire about the roles andresponsibilities of MPs, the legislative process, and civic engagement. This visit was aninvaluable experience, deepening students understanding of Indian democracy andencouraging them to participate actively in civic life. The insights gained will enhancetheir studies in humanities and inspire future involvement in governance.
Celebrating World Tourism Day, students of MMPS explored and shared their creativityby decorating the wall by presenting some major tourist sites of Udaipur on it.On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Students explored new skills and prepared GandhiCaps using paper. They spread the message of reusing waste and maintainingcleanliness all around. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated annually on 2 October to honour thebirth of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the key leaders of the Indian independence movementand a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of nonviolence. The education systemproposed by Mahatma Gandhi is called as "Basic Education". He mainly aims ateducation in the mother tongue and asked for activity centered education to make thechildren skilled and independent.

Junior School Activities:
Teachers’ Day (Sept 5): Class IV students made cards and wrote messages to honor theirteachers, celebrating Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's contributions.
Hindi Diwas: Students in classes 3-5 engaged in activities like Sulekh Pratiyogita, poemrecitations, and a skit to celebrate Hindi and raise awareness about the language.
World Rivers Day: Class 3 watched a story on rivers, Class 4 made badges and slogans,and Class 5 held a JAM session reflecting on the importance of rivers.
International Day of Peace (Sept 21): Students participated in various activities, fromcreating slogans and doves to discussing organizations supporting world peace.
Storytelling Session: Ms. Swetcha Pershad captivated Class IV and V students with folktales, interactive games, and discussions about the moral lessons in the stories.
Middle School:
Sustainable Habits Initiative: On Sept 21, students pledged actions to reduce theirenvironmental footprint, like using reusable alternatives, conserving energy, andparticipating in recycling programs. They shared these commitments to inspirecollective responsibility.
Senior School:
GOONJ – My Country, My Pride: At RWYC GOONJ, an international cultural fest,organised by Delhi Public School, sector 45 Gurgaon had participants from 20 schoolsdisplayed patriotism and cultural pride through visual, literary, and digital arts,fostering a future rooted in heritage and sustainability.
On August 9th, the Indigenous tribal communities, known as Adivasi, who areacknowledged as the nation's original inhabitants, are honored by celebrating AdivasiDivas. The date coincides with the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples,assigned by the United Nations in 1993. Students of INTACH Club of MMPS, explored the history of some Adivasi communities about the impact of outsiders on the life ofAdivasis during colonial rule in India.
Sanskrit Divas Celebration
World Sanskrit Day, also known as International Sanskrit Day, Sanskrit Diwas, andVishwa Samskrita Dinam, is observed on the day of Shravana Poornima in the Hinducalendar, which coincides with the celebration of Raksha Bandhan. This year, SanskritDiwas was celebrated on Monday, 19th August. MMPS Celebrated this day incollaboration with the Department of Sanskrit. Numerous activities were conducted onintra and inter-school levels such as Shlok Path Pratiyogita, Shlok Adharit ChirtakalaPratiyogita, Special Sanskrit Assembly & Sanskrit Quiz, etc.
Hindi Pakhwada Celebration
Hindi Pakhwada was celebrated by INTACH Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar PublicSchool from September 7-14, 2024. As part of it, a Hindi Kahani Lekhan competitionwas organized for the junior and senior categories. The topic was 'Legends of Rajasthan'.Students wrote stories based on the lives of Meerabai, Uday Singh ji, Rani Padmini,Bappa Rawal, Maharana Pratap, Maharana Kumbha, etc. The basic objective was tomake children aware of the stories of folk heroes.
INTACH Quiz
Members of the INTACH Heritage Club from Maharana Mewar Public Schoolparticipated in a district-level quiz competition at Rockwood’s High School, Udaipur, on18th September 2024. The quiz had 5 rounds, starting with a written round of 10multiple-choice questions. Top-performing teams advanced to further rounds, withquestions posed by Mr. Lalit Pandey and Mr. Gaurav Singhvi from INTACH UdaipurChapter. Mr. Jagdish Paliwal served as scorer. Four teams from 12 renowned districtschools, each with two members from grades 7 to 9, competed. The quiz focused onIndia's rich tangible and intangible heritage, and all students received participation certificates.
The Model Youth Parliament Program (YPP) lay a bridge between youth, like-minded people working for society, and government by providing a common platform and foster for a healthy discussion on political reforms, parliamentary activities, policy-making, education, and employment
A mock session on Youth Parliament Program was conducted on 17th August, 2024 for classes IX to XII where students understood the parliamentary procedure, public issues and formed their opinion on them.
The purposes of Youth Parliament are as follows: -
All the students participated in this activity. They found it very informative and interesting as they got to know about the importance of public speaking skills. The parliamentary system is both responsive and responsible. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar once said in one of his speeches in the Constituent Assembly debates: "There is both a daily and periodic assessment of the responsibility of government." Thus, after through discussion, the parliamentary system was accepted for the country and over the years the system has proved to be successful.

St. Thomas School, Loni, celebrated "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat" on July 19, 2024, promoting unity in diversity through engaging heritage activities for students from classes III to XII. The Heritage Club, in collaboration with artists and scholars, organized cultural exchange programs, debates, heritage walks, and historical tours, showcasing India’s diverse traditions, languages, and beliefs.
Class Activities:
The event emphasized India's unity amidst its cultural diversity and instilled a sense of responsibility for preserving heritage. Mrs. Shali Nair, the principal, applauded the students and teachers for their dedication and patriotism.
Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Plantation Drive (August 27, 2024)
Students from classes 4 and 5 participated in a plantation drive, planting saplings like Mint, Tulsi, and Rose in the school campus, labeled in the Tibeto-Burman language. This drive highlighted the environmental benefits of tree planting and encouraged students to contribute to a greener planet.
Celebration of Bastille Day (July 14, 2024)
The school celebrated France’s Independence Day, educating students on the French Revolution's impact on global history, human rights, and democracy, drawing connections to India’s own freedom movement.
Through these initiatives, St. Thomas School, Loni, successfully engaged students in exploring India's rich cultural heritage and environmental responsibility, fostering pride and unity among the young generation.
At CS Academy Coimbatore, we are committed to sensitizing students about national heritage and culture through hands-on, activity-based learning, inspired by INTACH's initiatives. In June 2024, the Social Science Department inaugurated the INTACH chapter for Grade 6 and 7 students, marking the beginning of a focused effort on cultural and heritage awareness.
International Yoga Day: Grade 7 celebrated with the theme "Yoga for Self and Society," guided by the PE department. Students practiced various postures, emphasizing wellness, self-discipline, and community well-being.
Rakhi Making Activity: Students from Grades 3-7 participated in a Seed Ball Making activity with the Environment Foundation of India (EFI). Led by Mr. Shiva from EFI, students learned about reforestation and the role of seed balls in promoting plant growth. The hands-on activity fostered teamwork and ecological awareness, with students enjoying the creative and collaborative process.

In a heartfelt effort to promote environmental awareness and tree conservation, students of Grades 6 and 7 participated in a series of activities highlighting the importance of protecting trees for future generations. Following the seed ball-making activity, Grade 7 students took a solemn Sanskrit pledge, “वृक्षरक्षणप्रतिज्ञा” (Vṛkṣarakṣaṇa Pratijñā), reinforcing their commitment to tree conservation.
To further instill a sense of solidarity and responsibility, students tied rakhis to trees, symbolizing a promise to protect and nurture the environment. This Rakhi-tying activity goes beyond tradition, fostering a bond of care and stewardship toward nature, reflecting our unwavering commitment to preserving our national heritage and culture.

Celebration of International Tiger Day
R.D. Khosla D.A.V Model Sr. Sec. Batala School, Batala celebrated International Tiger day. A Declamation Competition was organised in the School where students of Class 9th & 10th participated and showed their enthusiasm. A lecture on saving tigers was also given by our teacher.
The month of August beholds historic significance for India and is filled with festivals and cultural celebrations that instil a sense of nationalism, patriotism and pride in every Indian heart. In line with this, a variety of activities were conducted by the junior school for students in grade 3, 4 and 5.

On International Youth Day, August 12, 2024, the Health and Wellness Club conducted a special assembly on campus. Students performed a skit comparing healthy food to junk food, emphasizing the importance of a disease-free lifestyle. A quiz related to the theme was held, with winners receiving fruits. The event also featured a yoga session, reinforcing the message of maintaining a healthy life
On Independence Day, the school hosted a vibrant celebration filled with enthusiasm and patriotism. The event began with reciting the Mool Mantra for blessings. Highlights included a badge ceremony honoring the Principal, Vice Principal, and Headmistress, a patriotic dance by Class I, and a cultural program in traditional attire. Class III students performed a musical act on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, promoting cleanliness and hygiene. Tanishka from UKG recited a poem, while a drama and song paid tribute to freedom fighters and highlighted the role of youth in India’s future. Classes IV and V conducted a tricolor rally, and various classroom activities like making tricolor bunting and greeting cards were held. Mrs. Anju Mehta (Principal) encouraged students to take pride in their heritage and contribute to a prosperous India.
The senior wing of St. Columba’s School has established a heritage club to help students deepen their understanding of their cultural heritage. Mr. Abhishek Das and Ms. Christina Shangne, resource persons from INTACH, led an engaging session where they discussed the concept of heritage and outlined various activities the club could undertake. The session was highly interactive, with students showing enthusiastic participation and a keen interest in learning more about their heritage.

Van Mahotsav
To raise awareness of the significance of Van Mahotsav and the importance of tree preservation, various activities were conducted. Students learned about the vital role trees play in maintaining ecological balance. A video on the Chipko movement emphasized tree conservation. Class III students created drawings depicting the uses of trees, while Class IV made "Save Trees" badges and wrote slogans. Class V participated in a JAM session on the value of trees. The activities aimed to instill social responsibility and a love for nature in the students.
World Population Day
On July 11, World Population Day was observed to raise awareness of global population issues. A video presentation on the 2024 theme, "Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future," highlighted the importance of providing youth with access to healthcare, education, and employment. Class III students created vivid flowcharts of their family members, while Class V shared opinions and suggestions on addressing overpopulation for a sustainable future. The activities helped students understand global challenges and the importance of becoming responsible members of society.
On 16th and 18th July 2024, the INTACH school group held an activity for classes 6, 7, and 8 themed "Coconut Confluence—Rituals, Recipes, and Legends." Students wrote about the cultural significance of coconuts in Indian rituals, recipes, or folklore, illustrating their narratives with creative sketches. The activity deepened their understanding of cultural roots while fostering creativity and critical thinking, offering a platform to explore the rich traditions associated with coconuts.
Van Mahotsav
Class VII students enthusiastically celebrated Van Mahotsav to promote environmental awareness and the importance of tree plantation. The teacher emphasized the role of trees in combating climate change. Students participated in group discussions and created posters in their notebooks to reinforce the importance of saving paper. The event concluded with a pledge to plant and care for trees, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature.

Telangana Formation Day was celebrated with pride and zeal at DPS Miyapur campus on 19 June 2024, marking a decade since the state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh. This day honors the journey and achievements of Telangana's citizens, celebrating their resilience and cultural heritage. A special assembly was presented by Grades 6-8, guided by the Telugu department, to foster a deeper appreciation of Telangana's unique heritage. The event began with the lighting of the lamp and a soulful prayer song, followed by a skit illustrating the state's progress over the past decade. The assembly concluded with an inspiring address by Principal Ms. Gowri Sarkar, who emphasized the importance of preserving Telangana's cultural heritage and encouraged students to stay connected to their roots.
"International Day of Yoga 21 June 2024"
DPS Miyapur celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga with over 3500 students from Pre-Primary to Grade 12 participating. The enthusiasm of students and staff in the yoga sessions was a visual treat. The celebration at DPS Miyapur followed CBSE guidelines with the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ highlighting Yoga’s benefits for personal well-being and societal harmony. Grade VI students led a special assembly with prayer chanting and mass yoga. Warm-up exercises and asanas were performed, with their importance explained. Principal Ms. Gowri Sarkar, along with teachers, participated enthusiastically, encouraging regular Yoga practice for fitness and concentration. She emphasized the importance of focus and concentration as essential skills. The assembly concluded with a soothing meditation session, creating a harmonious synergy. Despite the heat, the students remained spirited and delved deeper into self-exploration.
National Reading Day Celebrations-19 June 2024
To honor the father of the Library Movement, the late P.N. Panicker, 19th June is celebrated as Reading Day. Since its inception in 1996, it has become a movement to promote the culture of reading. On the 28th National Reading Day, DPS students took the Reading Pledge. During library periods, they reviewed books, presented critical analyses, and participated in discussions, sharing their insights on characters and events. Principal Ms. Gowri Sarkar emphasized the importance of reading for cognitive and language development. She encouraged students to read regularly, highlighting its role in enhancing language abilities. The celebration aimed to revive the valuable habit of reading.

Yoga Day:
In the first week of June, DPS Gurgaon students celebrated Yoga Day with enthusiasm. The event began with an introduction to Yoga Day's significance, followed by a session led by a certified instructor who emphasized breathing techniques and mindfulness. Students actively participated in relaxing and invigorating exercises, experiencing improved concentration and reduced stress. Afterward, they discussed the positive effects they felt. The celebration ended with a meditation session, reinforcing inner peace and holistic health, promoting both physical and mental well-being.
The Ali Naqvi Judiciary Summer Programme, organized by ITIHASS, was a dynamic four-day event for students across Delhi NCR, including Delhi Public School Gurgaon. The programme, guided by experienced mentors, explored various civic institutions.
On day 1, students visited Patiala House Court, observing live sessions and discussing with magistrates. Day 2 included a tour of Parliament Street Police Station, where officers explained station operations and protocols. Day 3's visit to Satyam Theatre highlighted the importance of civic engagement and activism. On day 4, the programme concluded with a visit to the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, exploring the achievements and challenges of India's prime ministers.
The programme offered valuable insights into the practical functioning of societal institutions, enhancing students' understanding of civic responsibilities and active citizenship.
The ITIHAAS Summer Programme at the National Museum offered students a unique chance to delve into India's rich heritage. Managed by ITIHAAS (Indian Tradition and Heritage Society), this seven-day summer internship programme was tailored for those interested in fields such as archaeology, history, museology, and anthropology.
Participants gained hands-on experience with various artifacts across the museum's galleries, fostering a deeper understanding of India's history. The programme not only enhanced academic knowledge but also cultivated essential skills like teamwork, communication, and analytical thinking. Participants also learnt to engage with diverse visitors, including international guests, gaining valuable real-world experience.
Family Day
The Junior School's Family Day initiative effectively promoted heritage conservation and cultural awareness. Class 3 students created family trees, fostering a connection to their roots. Classes 4 and 5 made personalized bookmarks and Warli art posters, expressing love and dedication to family members.
DPS Sec 45, Junior Wing, celebrated Earth Day with videos on "Planet vs Plastics," inspiring students to reduce plastic use. An engaging assembly featured talks, a Nukkad Natak, and a dance performance. Class III made mementos from clay and paper, Class IV created an Earth Mosaic poster, and Class V crafted table organizers from recycled materials, raising environmental awareness.
Classes 3 and 4 participated in activities highlighting museum significance and etiquette. Presentations on prominent museums captivated students, who then wrote about proper museum behavior.
Junior School students celebrated the day by crafting illustrations and reflections on festivals and languages. This activity enhanced their artistic skills and deepened their understanding of cultural significance.
World Museum Day
On May 15, 2024, the INTACH School group organized activities for World Museum Day. Students researched and documented artefacts from Indian museums, creating sketches and write-ups. They also designed posters to promote museum appreciation, fostering cultural pride and understanding.
Class VI students designed a cover page for a "Puppetry" skill manual, learning about puppetry and collaborative design.
Inter-House Music Festival
On May 7, 2024, DPS Gurgaon held an Inter-House Music Festival for classes IX and X, themed "Folk Songs of India." Six houses performed folk songs from various regions, showcasing India's cultural diversity. Esteemed alumni judged the event, which rekindled cultural pride.
On May 17, 2024, INTACH organized a museum walk at the National Museum for senior school students. This immersive experience enhanced their appreciation for cultural heritage through guided tours and interactive sessions.
On May 21-22, classes XI and IX participated in a World Cultural Diversity Day event organized by INTACH. Students created documentaries on cultural diversity, followed by classroom presentations and discussions. This project enhanced their understanding of cultural diversity and developed research, teamwork, and multimedia skills.
In order to enlighten today's generation about the contribution of labourers and community helpers to our society, International Labour Day was celebrated on 2 May, 2024 in the school campus. A special assembly was conducted on this occasion in which students of Class VIII highlighted the tireless and consistent efforts and help provided by the support staff through a wonderful skit and dance drama. A beautiful poem acknowledging the invaluable contributions made by the support staff was narrated. Students expressed their emotions in a beautiful way. Mrs. Anju Mehta (Principal) appreciated the remarkable performance of the students.
The INTACH club aims to educate and motivate students to protect the environment. In April, for World Heritage Day, students in classes III, IV, and V learned about INTACH and its goals. Activities included a presentation on India's World Heritage sites for all classes, class IV students illustrating and writing about their favorite monuments, and class V students illustrating and writing ways to preserve them. Additionally, third and fifth graders drew their favorite musical instruments and spoke about them.
Save a Watt:
On March 28, 2024, DPS Sec 45 Junior Wing students conducted the ‘Save a Watt’ awareness walk on electricity conservation. Enthusiastic eco-warriors raised impactful slogans and suggested simple habits to reduce electricity waste. This activity motivated students to use electricity thoughtfully, both at school and home, instilling a valuable life skill.
Baisakhi Assembly:
Jamuna House organized a special assembly for Classes IV and V to celebrate Baisakhi and appreciate our culture and farmers. The students presented an informative skit on the festival's significance, including its marking of the harvest season's end and the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. A lively Punjabi dance captivated everyone. The Headmistress encouraged gratitude, especially towards farmers who provide our food.
Eid Assembly:
The Junior Wing students of Ganges House presented a special assembly on the importance of Eid. It began with a prayer and an inspirational thought on the power of faith. An informative skit emphasized harmony, respect, friendship, and the significance of 'Eidi,' reinforcing unity, compassion, sharing, and brotherhood. The assembly concluded with a poem on Eid, showcasing the students' creativity and talent, and filling everyone's hearts with love and positivity.
Floor Art Traditions
On April 18 and 23, 2024, the INTACH School group organized an activity for classes 6-8, focusing on rangoli art. Students researched and documented regional patterns like Kolam, Mandana, and Muggu, exploring their cultural symbolism and materials. They created sketches, enhancing their skills in symmetry and precision while appreciating this traditional art form.
Itihaas Heritage Day Competition
A team from DPS Sector-45, Gurgaon, won second prize in an art competition on April 18, 2024, organized by ITIHAAS at Purana Qila. Over 30 schools participated, with students designing brochure covers for famous tourist attractions.
Spic Macay
On April 10, 2024, DPS Gurgaon hosted an Odissi dance performance by Ms. Kavita Dwibedi, an award-winning artiste, in collaboration with Spic Macay Society. Ms. Dwibedi's graceful performance and interaction with students highlighted the importance of classical dance in Indian culture.
Earth Day Assembly
Class VIII students presented an Earth Day assembly to raise environmental awareness. The assembly included a prayer, song, poem, and insights on World Heritage Day. Head Council Members encouraged sustainable practices, leaving a lasting impression on students.
Gurgaon History Festival 2024
DPS Sector-45, Gurgaon, hosted the Gurgaon History Festival on April 5-6, 2024, in association with the Jaipur History Festival and Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust. The event, themed 'Education Through Monuments,' featured an exhibition, cultural program, and book launch. Over 30 schools participated, integrating various subjects with history. Distinguished guests praised the event, emphasizing experiential learning and cultural preservation. The festival concluded with gratitude from Dean, Student Welfare, Ms. Sapna Dhawan, and left a lasting impact on attendees.
In a vibrant celebration of culture, the Heritage Club members at R. N. Podar School (CBSE) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, organized an event on 18th of April 2024, commemorating the onset of World Heritage Day under the theme 'Art with a Heart'. The participants showcased their artistic talents with captivating Mandala, Madhubani, Warli, and Gond paintings. The stage pulsated with the grace of Bharatnatyam, the elegance of Kathak, and the fluidity of Odissi dances, accompanied by soul-stirring renditions of classical vocal and instrumental music. Emphasizing Indian Classical and traditional aspects, these performances conveyed a profound message of cultural pride and heritage preservation. Through their artistry, students invited all to delve into the rich culture of India, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our collective heritage. This celebration wasn't just about showcasing talent; it was a heartfelt invitation to discover, experience, and celebrate our diverse cultural legacy. This celebration wouldn't have been possible without the guidance and support of Avnita Bir Ma'am and Suman Ma'am, whose leadership paved the way for this memorable event.
"Our continuing efforts in our everyday lives will make this beautiful planet thrive.” Echoing the same, students of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara celebrated “The Earth Day” through a series of activities on 22nd April, 2024. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class IX on the theme, Mother Earth. Students expressed their views by reciting poem and presenting a marvelous skit based on the theme. To create awareness, Shramdaan - a cleanliness drive was also conducted in the neighbourhood of the school and in Shiv Mandir by the students of Class X. Reading activity and Book mark making activity was also conducted on the occasion of birthday of Shakespeare. Mrs. Anju Mehta (Principal) motivated the students and emphasized upon the importance of planting trees and protecting our environment.
On the 22nd of April, students of Class VIII from Tagore International School, East of Kailash enthusiastically participated in a plantation drive at the historic site of Ashoka Rock Edict, located in the serene surroundings of East of Kailash. The initiative was part of our school's ongoing commitment to environmental conservation and awareness. The plantation drive commenced with students, teachers, and volunteers gathering at the designated area with saplings, gardening tools, and a spirit of determination. With great care and enthusiasm, they dug holes, placed saplings, and ensured proper watering and mulching for the newly planted trees. The teamwork and dedication displayed by the students were commendable, reflecting their deep-rooted concern for the environment.
As part of celebrations of International Museum Day, Heritage Education and Communication Service of INTACH conducted a heritage walk at National Museum for various schools of Delhi. The participating schools were Army Public School, Shankar Vihar, Green Fields School, Indian School 1st and 2nd Shift, Delhi Public School, Indirapuram and Delhi Public School, Sec – 45, Gurgaon. In total around 120 students participated in the walk divided into two batches. The students were given a brief introduction about the history of the museum and how it was set up. The galleries that were covered in detail were the Harappan Gallery, Ancient India Gallery which covered the Mauryas, Sungas, Kushan, Satvahana and Gupta including the Gandhara School of Art and the Coins Gallery. The students were explained in detail about the Harappan Civilisation and the artefacts displayed. They were also explained about history and types coins – from punch-marked coins to modern-day coins. The walk was conducted by Ms. Nanki Kaur, Ms. Vaishnavi Singh and Mr. Abhishek Das assisted by Ms. Andrea Elizabeth Mathew. The introduction was given by Mrs. Purnima Datt along with some trivia about museums in India.
The heritage walk at the Purana Qila was organised for 80 students and 8 teachers from The British School, New Delhi. The students were divided into 4 groups and were guided by 4 members from HECS INTACH – Mr. Abhishek Das, Ms. Vaishnavi, Ms. Nanki Kaur and Ms. Andrea E. Mathew. The walk started with an introduction to the city of Delhi and the numerous capitals that were built there through the ages. A brief outline of the Mughal Dynasty and Sur Empire was also given to the students. They were then given a general introduction to the old capital city of Dinpanah, as well as the fort of Purana Qila.
The students were taken to see the Sher Mandal where Emperor Humyaun used to study the stars and from where he fell down; the Qila-e Kunha, which is the main masjid located within the Old Fort and was built by Sher Shah Suri; the Hammam which was the medieval bathhouse; the Baoli which is a traditional structure used for water harvesting; and the 3 gates of the fort – Bada Darwaza, Humayun Darwaza and Talaqi Darwaza. Each structure’s architectural and historical features were discussed in great detail. The walk leaders also spoke about the various archaeological excavations that have taken place at the site, and showed the students some of these dig sites. The walk ended with the handing out of the post-walk worksheet on the Purana Qila.
A heritage walk was conducted for 67 students of class 8 of Green Fields School, Safdarjung Enclave to Mehrauli Archaeological Park on 20th March, 2024. The students were briefed about the history of Mehrauli area at the beginning of the walk. Then they were taken for a tour of Balban’s Tomb gateway and ruins of the tomb, followed by some ruins belonging to the Mughal period. Then they went to the famed Jamali Kamali mosque and ended their tour at Rajon ki Baoli, a Lodi period stepwell.
A group of 31 students and 2 teachers from Delhi Public School Dwarka were taken on a Heritage Walk to Purana Qila by Ms. Vaishnavi and Ms. Nanki Kaur, Programme Coordinators from HECS. On the occasion of World Radio Day (13th of February) students of classes III and IV were acquainted with the history of radio and were made aware of the contribution of radio as a means of communication through informative videos and a PowerPoint presentation. They made a picture of a radio in their activity notebooks and also wrote some interesting facts related to the World Radio Day.
The students of classes III and IV celebrated International Mother Language Day (21st February) through a PowerPoint Presentation and a video, sharing about the importance of their mother tongue. They also made a colourful matrix and wrote 6-10 meaningful words in their respective mother language with their translation in English.
Terracotta Museum Visit: A captivating visit to the terracotta museum allowed the students to observe an array of toys from different states, each crafted with precision and artistry. Highlights included pottery and toys, with Bihar's renowned Madhubani painting, adding a touch of cultural richness to the experience. The journey continued with an exploration of a unique area that represented the life cycle and transitions. Here, students encountered an array of items, from toys to kitchen essentials and ladies' accessories, all meticulously crafted from brass and silver. This immersive display provided a glimpse into the craftsmanship involved in creating everyday items.
Paper folk toy workshop: The culmination of the day brought the students to an engaging workshop where they delved into the world of paper craft. Guided by skilled instructors, the children learned the art of shaping and transforming simple sheets of paper into intricate creations. Laughter, learning, and joy filled the air.
The Puppet Making workshop started with a story telling session by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar. Students made sock puppet guided by skilled instructors. The children learned the art of shaping and transforming socks into interesting characters. It was an enriching and fun loving experience for the students.
The Science Fest: Seek Ek Khoj was held for classes VI to VIII at DPS Gurgaon. Science projects like rainwater harvesting, stars and galaxies, solar system, DC motors, drip irrigation, fibre to fabric, windmill, hydropower plant, planets and gravity, cloud seeding etc. were exhibited and demonstrated by the participants enthusiastically, in front of the parents. It was a unique integration of concepts of Mathematics, History, Geography, Art and Craft, Hindi, English etc. Posters depicting the various themes contributed to the creation of a colourful ambience. The students had an opportunity to amalgamate their thoughts together in groups along with their subject teachers to achieve extraordinary results. It was heartening to notice that the students had been inspired to conceptualise and initiate their personal scientific journey through self-motivation and with a concern for sustainability and inclusivity. The parents appreciated and applauded the efforts of their children. It was an enriching experience for the students.
The school is also part of the FILMIT India project and took part in the INTACH Filmit Delhi Festival held on 1st February 2024. Over 40 schools of National Capital Region participated in the project. Students of DPS, Gurgaon won prizes in following two categories: 1. Best Direction for the film - 'Ganga Maa Ka Ramnath'; 2. Best Visuals for the film - 'The Sheesh Mahal'
Delhi Public School, Sector-45, Gurgaon, stood out at the Jaipur Literature Festival by presenting multidisciplinary research, notably an art display inspired by selected monuments like Sheesh Mahal, Baoli Ghaus Ali Shah at Farrukhnagar, and Jean Etienne Tomb. This exchange not only highlighted students' intellectual curiosity but also enhanced the overall festival experience. The school's contribution epitomised the festival's commitment to promoting emerging talent and fostering a spirit of creativity and inquiry.
Commemorating the occasion, students of classes III, IV and V carved their emotions and love for their country through various activities. They were enlightened about the objectives of the Republic Day and its importance in our lives. They were briefed about the contribution of Dr B. R. Ambedkar in making of the Constitution of India. A video related to significance of Republic Day was also shared with them. The students of Class IIII showcased the rich culture and diversity of our country through the drawing of our national flower- Lotus. They displayed immense enthusiasm and had a lot of fun doing this activity. The students of Class IV made the Preamble of the Constitution along with our nation’s flag in their notebooks and decorated it. It was an interesting activity wherein the students learned about the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness. The students of Class V made beautiful tricolour peacocks using paper plates. Students absolutely enjoyed doing this activity.
Every year, 25th January is celebrated as the India National Tourism Day, an incredible way to spread awareness about the importance of travelling and protecting nature. The theme of National Tourism Day 2024 centres on the theme ‘Sustainable Journeys, Timeless Memories’, emphasizing the concept of responsible and mindful travel. The students of class IV made beautiful drawings of "Atithi Devo Bhava" that has profound significance in India and Hinduism. This made the students express hospitality which is rooted in ancient Indian literature and values.
On the 17th January 2024, the INTACH club at Delhi Public School Gurgaon organised various engaging and educational activities centred on the theme ‘Harvest Festivals of India’. The aim of these activities was to immerse students in the diverse cultural traditions of India and enhance their understanding of the significance of harvest festivals. Students created pencil sketches depicting the celebration of a chosen harvest festival. The sketches were vibrant and detailed, capturing the essence of the festivities. Students also researched and wrote about one harvest festival of their choice. Their writings delved into the historical and cultural aspects of the selected festival, exploring its significance in different regions of India. Adding a culinary dimension to the event, students prepared a recipe guide featuring a special dish associated with the harvest festival they had researched. In conclusion, the INTACH club's initiative to explore and celebrate the harvest festivals of India through various creative outlets was both educational and enjoyable. Such activities play a crucial role in fostering a sense of cultural pride and respect among the younger generation.
Delhi Public school in collaboration with ITIHAAS took a proactive step towards environmental education by introducing water classrooms for 8th grade students. The initiative aimed to foster deeper understanding of water conservation, encouraging students to actively engage, collaborate and contribute towards the crucial mission of water saving. The curriculum of the water classrooms was designed to provide students with a comprehensive perspective on the utility of water. Hands on activities were an integral part of the water classrooms, with students maintaining detailed records of their work in dedicated workbooks. A key component of the program involved practical learning through field visit to explore Rajon ki Baoli, gaining valuable insights into the current state of water wastage and scarcity. The collaborative initiative between Delhi Public School and ITIHAAS, through the implementation of Water Classrooms, not only equipped eighth-grade students with a comprehensive understanding of water conservation but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility towards safeguarding this precious resource for a sustainable future.
On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day students of Middle School conducted a special assembly on Republic Day. The assembly commenced with a prayer. Later, a PPT was shown, highlighting the significance of the Republic Day. This was followed by an active discussion among the students. They also sang patriotic songs celebrating the spirit of unity and togetherness. The students participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
INTACH Heritage Club of MMPS celebrated Makar Sankranti on January 15 by decorating kites with beautiful social messages and learned to prepare traditional delicacies made of sesame.
The heritage club also celebrated National Tourism Day on January 25 with an array of activities. Interesting Facts were shared with the school during morning assembly. A videos Presentation on UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India was also screened, along with PowerPoint Presentation on UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India followed by some games and activities such as Route Plan preparation to various Tourist Destinations and postcard making activity.
