INTACH Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar Public School had an educational tour to Delhi from December 8-11, 2022. 40 Club Members went along with Club in charge Ms. Pratima Paliwal and Ms. Sunita Sisodiya. Following places were visited.
*INTACH Headquarters (71 Lodhi Estate): met Ms. Purnima Datt Principal Director & Group Captain Arvind Shukla. (Director, chapters division). Teachers & students presented mementos to them made by students of the Heritage club followed by a Heritage walk to Lodhi Gardens. They also visited their unique conservation lab.

Christmas celebrations took place in Oxford Grammar premises on 23rd December. Students wore red and white. A Christmas tree was installed and students sang the Christmas carols and also a play was enacted on the birth of Jesus Christ. Gifts were exchanged. A charity drive that involved the entire school such as collecting money and bringing blankets for a nearby organization was also carried out. This is a fantastic way to give back to the community and positively influence it.
The school also celebrated Sankarnti. It helped the children understand the importance of the harvest festival and helped to inculcate moral values like politeness, sharing, respect towards elders and respect for nature. An art activity reinforced the concept and this also helped in developing motor skills.

The students of Heritage club from Indu IT School went to a knowledge expedition to the historical site at Devkar village. The temple Ghughus Raja built during 17-18th Century BC. The temple is situated in the bank of river Surahi. The chief deity is lord Narasimha. The temple premise is covered with 16 Sati Pillars that are partially buried under ground. The other site included Sahaspur, It had Shiva Temple built during 13-14th century by Nagvanshi dynasty. The Ancient Temple is known to have conducted grand fair on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The height of Shivling is 6ft from the ground. It has 16 pillars with engravings of Snakes which shows the marvelous architectural skills of ancient artisans. Students of class 6-9th got the opportunity to know more about our States ancient glory and culture. Respected Director Sir, Director Ma'am and Principal Sir encouraged and appreciated Students for showing interest in history and culture and motivated them to continue visiting other Heritage sites of state and our Nation.

The National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated every year on December 14 since 1991. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under Ministry of Power spearheads the celebrations every year. The objective to celebrate the National Energy Conservation Day is to drive mass awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation. The students of classes III, IV and V were acquainted about the different sources of Renewable energy and were sensitized towards the need of ‘Save Energy’. They made colourful illustrations of the different sources of energy in their notebooks. They also made ‘Save Energy’ badges and posters to spread the message of energy conservation.
Since 1949, 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought on our borders to safeguard the country's honour. Students of classes III and IV were made aware of the contributions of the Indian Armed forces in our country’s safety. They made beautiful posters and vibrant illustrations to exhibit their respect and pay tribute to the soldiers of our Armed forces.
Every year, India observes Farmers’ Day or Kisan Diwas. Farmers are the driving force of the country’s economy and deserve to be honoured. In order to promote awareness about the valuable contribution by the farmers to the overall social and economic development of the nation, a poster making activity was conducted for the students of Class IV. The young learners displayed their artistic skills by making beautiful posters.
Visit to Humayun’s Tomb
The educational trip for class VI students was organized at the Humayun's Tomb. They learnt about the intricate architecture and the rich history of India. The entire trip proved to be a rich learning extravaganza for the students.
The students of Class VII created Wall Graffiti on energy conservation. They wrote quotations, slogans, proverbs etc. related to the conservation of electricity, water and other resources. The students of class VIII created a mini magazine on ‘Energy Conservation’, in which they prepared a cover page, wrote articles and poems, drafted advertisements and posters, made drawings and pictures, created slogans, riddles and jokes etc. related to energy conservation, in their respective groups.
The INTACH school group organised an activity on 16th December 2022 for the students of Middle School to spread awareness regarding Gita Mahotsava and the important life teachings from the same on the occasion of Gita Jayanti Samaroh, which is a cultural festival celebrating the birthday of Bhagvad Gita. In this activity, students wrote about different life lessons from the Holy Scripture. They also designed a calendar cover for the December month depicting Gita Mahotsava. Some students decorated their calendars with shloka from the holy book Bhagvad Gita, in beautiful calligraphy. This enriching and engaging activity encouraged students to showcase their creativity as well as enh anced their learning of this Holy Scripture.
Delhi Public School, Sector-45, Gurgaon participated in the Jaipur History Festival 2022, “Phad Se” from 13th to 16th December 2022 at "The City Palace", Jaipur. This was an initiative of The Futuristic Group under the aegis of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust in affirmation with the 'New Education Policy 2020'. 17 students from Classes VIII and IX presented a Kathak Dance and a Fusion Dance. The theme of the Kathak Dance, SOHAM- I am because you are, depicted the significance of maintaining a reverential attitude towards our ecosystem for the sustenance of mankind. The Fusion Dance depicted the meaning of our national song 'Vande Mataram' while bringing out the essence of the motto Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat. The festival created a platform of learning, interacting and dialogue which in turn proved fulfilling for the 1800 plus participants representing 27 schools.
The Annual Day Celebration of the School was celebrated on 18th December 2022. A special Stall was set up to display the activities of the Heritage Club of Siddhivinayak Public School, Balasore.
The Heritage Club of Vidya Vikas Public School took all students for a heritage trip to understand farming and irrigation process. They had an interactive session with an agriculturist. They visited a farm and a dam.
The school conducted a food fest as part of INTACH heritage club activities. Different verities of homemade food were on display.
The month of November, with Children’s Day celebrations round the corner started with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. A host of other activities also kindled the feeling of creativity, love for animals, patriotism, unity and brotherhood in our Junior School students.
National Birdwatching Day is celebrated on November 12 to mark the birth anniversary of India’s legendary ornithologist Dr Salim Ali. A vibrant discussion was held on the birds of our surroundings and ways to save them. Children of class 3 had a lot of fun, as they learned to make beautiful birds in origami. Class 4 and 5 students made beautiful and colourful illustrations of birds in Madhubani Art and Gond Art respectively.
The students of classes 3 paid their tributes to ‘Chacha Nehru’ by making beautiful drawings of his favourite Rose flower. The children of classes 4 and 5 made lovely portraits of Pandit Nehru while engaging in discussion and sharing information on his contribution in the Independence of India.
Our motherland India is the perfect definition of the phrase ‘Unity in Diversity’. Keeping this thought at the core, students of Class III presented a cultural extravaganza ‘My Colourful India’ on 18th November 2022. Students dressed in traditional attires, presented different facets of our rich culture. They took the parents through an incredible tour of our country which gave them glimpses of the five zones of India.
The show commenced with a short introduction about India and progressed with students sharing interesting facts about states from each zone. The rich cultural heritage of the various states of India was beautifully portrayed through a dance performance which left everyone spell-bound. The depiction of the spirit of unity left an everlasting impression on the audience.
An educational trip was organised by the school to Agra and Bharatpur on 6th and 7th November. A group of 101 students along with teachers visited various places in Agra and Bharatpur.
The trip commenced with a road journey to Agra. The visit to Agra Fort was an enthralling experience where the students witnessed the intricate and beautiful architecture. Later in the day they visited Taj Mahal which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and after a long tiring day, the students were rejuvenated with some music, dance and an engaging puppet show. The second day began with an early visit to Keoladeo National Park which is a vast bird sanctuary. Overall, the trip was an amazing experience. It helped the students to explore the beauty of nature, create stronger bonds and make memories that they would cherish throughout their lives.
The INTACH School group organised an activity on 18th November 2022, for the Middle School to spread awareness on the significance of folk art in the culture of the country. The activity revolved around Phad painting, Aipan Art and Bhil painting. Students created beautiful wall décor out of paper plates. They tried to incorporate the different aspects of art through bright colours and varied patterns.
The objective of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is to strengthen the unity among the people of India. Keeping the flag of harmony in diversity high, Delhi Public School, Gurgaon organised varied activities from 2nd November to 13th November 2022 by engaging the young minds of classes VI to VIII in the vibrant culture of Gujarat.
The dynamic innovative learners of class VI experienced the joy of making an eco-friendly paper bag with the help of old newspaper, which they designed using block printing. They also wrote the advantages of using such paper bags.
The students of class VII created bookmarks depicting the flora and fauna of Gujarat's famous, Gir Forest. The young learners of class VIII designed a poster to generate awareness regarding the various facilities provided by the Government under Rann Utsav, which is presently going on since 1st November 2022 and will continue till 20th February 2023 in Gujarat. Students relished the appetising cuisine and other traditional dishes of Gujarat. These activities helped the students to showcase their artistic skills as well as gain insight into the beauty and heritage of Gujarat.
A series of events are being organized by the Haryana Government on the completion of 75 years of India's independence, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The theme Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat brings together the unity in diversity of the different cultures of our country. Delhi Public School, Sector-45, Gurgaon participated in the 4th Gurugram Kala Utsav held on Nov 12-13 2022. The event was inaugurated by Sh. Dushyant Chautala, Honorable Dy. Chief Minister of Haryana. Ms.Vani Madhav, General Secretary, Gurugram Kala Utsav Committee collaborated the entire event. DPS Gurgaon presented a Kathak Dance showcasing the theme "So Hum...I am because you are". The students also presented the fusion dance "VandeMataram" in sync with the theme of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat". The event was an ode to the art of dancing.
International Geodiversity Day was proclaimed by UNESCO at the 41st General Conference in 2021. It was an annual world-wide celebration bringing people together to promote all the aspects of Geodiversity, raising awareness across the society about the importance of non-living nature for the well-being and prosperity of all living beings on the planet. The INTACH Heritage Clubs also celebrated Geodiversity Day in their respective schools. Below are some of the activities taken up by the schools –
Maharana Mewar Public School, Udaipur
The club undertook various activities and visits to various Geodiversity Sites and observed artistic approaches to inculcate sensitivity among the young generation towards the rich Natural Heritage we have been gifted with by Mother Nature.
Visit I- Students visited a protected national geological monument "Peninsular Gneiss" which is expected to be around 3000 million years old.
Visit II- Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve, Karnataka-Tamil Nadu, where the students visited the following places: Bandipur National Park, Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Ooty Lake, Dodabetta Peak (The Highest Peak Of The Nilgiri Range) and Tea Gardens.
Activity III- Film Making Competition was conducted based on the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve Visited By Students the Topic Was ‘Saving Geodiversity’.
Activity IV- Poster Making Competition organized for Juniors & Seniors. Students Made Posters On How To Save Geo-Diversity. The Judges For The Competition Were Ms. Shabana Nath (Pgt-Geography) & Mr. Maqbool Abbasi (Pgt-Drawing And Painting).
Activity V- Leaflet & Brochure-Making Competition where students created leaflets & brochures on rocks, minerals, landforms & rivers of India.
Activity VI- Talk by an eminent Geologist Prof. Vinod Agrawal on "Geodiversity of Rajasthan".
Activity VII (Site Visit III) - Part of Aravalli Hill Range- Neemaj Mata, Udaipur).
Activity VIII - Exhibition on diverse Geodiversity and Geo- Heritage was organized in the School.
Activity IX (Site Visit IV) - Ancient Geo-Syncline and part of Sisarma-Kotra-Sabarmati-Narmada River Basin- Rampol, Macchala Magra, Udaipur.
Activity X - Tagboard Decoration activity where the students showcased the diverse Geodiversity of the country.
Activity XI - Class Discussion and Reading Session.
Activity XII (Site Visit V) (Aravalli Hill Range And Part Of Banas River Basin- UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Kumbhalgarh’, Rajsamand). The students also watched films online on geodiversity that helped them enriched their knowledge on the subject.
Sree VidyaNikethan International School, Tirupati
On the occasion, the heritage club conducted a poster making activity on “Saving Geodiversity”. They also setup a geodiversity Classroom Rock Corner showcasing the Tirumala Hills unique rock formations. A site visit was also conducted to Seshachala Hills / Tirumala Hills (Part Of Eastern Ghats - Andhra Pradesh). Another activity ‘Movie time’ where the students were shpwn a documentary on the formation of the Himalayan Mountains.
The Shriram Millennium School, Faridabad
To commemorate the International Geodiversity Day, the students of classes VI to VIII were shown various presentations on the significance and importance of Geodiversity. Students were shown a video by UNESCO on ‘Why do we need a Geodiversity Day’, to helped be aware of the importance of celebrating geodiversity and also help to instill in them a sense of accountability towards the Geoheritage sites. The videos referenced from the UNESCO site and Geoheritage works of INTACH were shown. Secondly, PowerPoint presentations, on the research made by students about the geographical and geological diversity of various states in India were shown. Lastly, a talk on Geodiversity was conducted in the classroom; post the screening of the film. Thus, students took immense interest in participating in the Geodiversity talk and the state-wise geodiversity activity.
Lord Mahavir Jain Public School. Ambala Cantt.
Keeping in view, Geo Diversity Day the Heritage Club of Lord Mahavir Jain Public School, Ambala Cantt organised a plethora of activities to commemorate this day. A reading activity was organised for the students of Class V in which they were given on the spot content based on Geo Diversity. Students of Class VI expressed their views through Slogan writing activity and conveyed the message of keeping our heritage sites clean as well as safe for our future generations. Students of Class VII exhibited their creativity in Poster Making competition on the theme Geo Diversity. Also the students of Class VIII prepared lovely brochures.
Delhi Public School, Anandapuram, Visakhapatman
The students took part in the activity of Poster Making on Geo- Diversity, which was conducted in two phases (for classes 6-8 on September 17 and classes 9-10 on October 15). A classroom discussion on the importance of Geo- Diversity was also organised. Other activities conducted were- a visit to a Geo- Heritage park (Thotlakonda), organized a talk by an eminent speaker Dr. Manisha, department of Oceanography on November 4th and making of Brochure/ leaflet.
Sardar Doon Public School, Jodhpur
A two-day group activity was organised to raise awareness among the pupils. The purpose of the activity was to educate the kids on the value of geodiversity to human health. With the Grade IV students, a mapping activity was conducted as the first task. Students noted the numerous landscapes, mountains, etc. on an actual physical map of India. The second project involved the fifth-grade children, who created a chart showing how to conserve geodiversity. The pupils also read short poems during a special assembly about various landforms, including rock, minerals, and soil. The renowned Indian geologist Maharajapuram Seetharaman Krishnan and his contribution to India's geodiversity were also discussed by the students.
The first club meet started with the introduction of the club motto and vision. Students were briefed about the club activities and few students presented the topic of this month was the important tourist attractions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. They were asked to collect information and write a travelogue on the places they would visit during the vacation. The students took upon a mesmerizing journey of the monuments of Kerala and Laskshadweep. In the presentation, the beautiful journey explaining about the important places and monuments present at these places were talked about. Children enjoyed it and few students were asked to do some research on the history of these states. It was enriching experience learning from the esteemed resource persons. In the club activities students presented the PPT on Andaman Islands and shared the dark history of Cellular jail. The students also presented the special assembly on monuments of India, where they played the role play of different temples through truth and dare game. They spoke about the architecture and artistic nuances of the temples describing the beauty and importance of these temples. They also made an appeal to conserve and respect the rich heritage of these monuments and appreciate the hard work of the people who built them. The INTACH club also had the privilege of participating in INTACH Filmit workshop, where some of our students participated and learnt the art of making short films.
students aware of their heritage. In the month of September 21st and 30th a Kashmir tour was organised for experiential learning about the culture of the state. The students also went for Musi walk on 25th September to create awareness not to pollute water bodies and protect the rivers. On 28th September the Pracheena heritage club students participated in the Solidarity Meet under tamarind tree which saved the lives of 150 people during the 1908 Musi river floods. Students also celebrated Dussehra festival in school depicting Ramayana story and 9 goddess forms of Navarathi to know the culture and festivals of India and are able to learn many life values through them. Every Sunday the Heritage club members participate in a heritage walk.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas provides an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation towards upholding the unity, integrity, and security of our country. The main objective of the celebration is to uplift the nation’s unity and spread awareness about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to Indian history. The students of oxford grammar school took pledge and spoke about the greatness of Iron Man of India on 31st October.
The month of October beholds historic significance for India and a month loaded with festivities and celebrations in India and all across the globe. Keeping in tandem with this, a plethora of activities were conducted by the Junior School for classes 3, 4 and 5.
The activities for ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ were framed according to the service, dedication, and efforts of Gandhiji towards India's Independence. Students of Class 3 drew an outline of Gandhiji and shared their views on the importance of Truth and Non-Violence. They also spoke on the importance of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti. The students of Class 5 illustrated the importance of the three monkeys in the present scenario. They also illustrated Charkha, a symbol of nationalism, to represent self-sufficiency in the country. The other activities included drawing the Dove, which is universally accepted as the symbol of peace.
On the occasion of World Animal Day, the students of Class 3 expressed their thoughts on ‘conservation of forest’ and made beautiful posters. The students of Class 4 and 5 held a discussion to gain insight into the cruelty inflicted on animals. They were also enlightened about the responsibilities of humans towards animals which were followed by a pledge taken by the students to be kind to animals. They also designed beautiful picture postcards to show their love for them.
National Unity Day is observed on 31 October every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played an important role in unifying the country. With an aim to pay tribute to Iron Man of India, a poster making activity was conducted for the students of Class 4. Keeping in mind the cultural diversity of India, students participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity.
The festival of lights came alive when the students of Junior School lead the way in spreading the message of pollution-free and eco-friendly Diwali by making tea light holders from waste material. The activity enhanced the creative skills of the students and everyone was enthralled with its colourful and beautiful outcome. A poster making activity was also conducted on the topic ‘Safe and Green Diwali’.
To add to the festive fervour, a special assembly was presented by the students of Junior School. The skit emphasized on the importance of saying ‘No to Crackers’ and urged children to be sensitive to the environment by celebrating a clean and cracker free Diwali. A short poem was also recited to emphasize on the need to celebrate a peaceful and green Diwali followed by a mesmerizing dance performance. Nukkad Natak on ‘Harit Diwali’ was also performed by the talented students of class V which inspired the young minds to celebrate green and safe Diwali. The young eco-warriors also raised slogans like ‘Say no to crackers and yes to life’.
An activity on the theme ‘My Mythical Creature – Learning more about animals’ was organised by INTACH School group on 14th, 18th & 19th of October 2022 for the students at Middle School to spread awareness regarding the significance of the animal kingdom in different religions, which is evident in the artwork, architecture and culture of the nation.
Students wrote about Indian mythological stories depicting varied animals and birds. They did comprehensive research and presented stories on mythological characters like Airavataand Garuda. Taking inspiration from Indian architectural styles, they designed border using the motifs of peacock, parrots and elephants for their class bulletin board.
To pay homage to the ‘Father of the Nation’ and to get a deep insight into the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, an assembly was conducted on Wednesday, 28th September 2022, at Middle School in DPS, Sec 45, Gurgaon. The assembly commenced with a prayer which was followed by an eloquent thought that emphasised the importance of hard work and perseverance. Students articulated Gandhi’s ideology and contributions towards Indian independence.
The students thoroughly enjoyed doing various interesting activities such as making beautiful torans, lanterns, colourful badges supporting eco-friendly diwali, exploring shapes through Mandala Art to name a few. Students took a pledge to take up initiatives to promote the art and skill of diya makers to make their Diwali a happy one. They danced with great zest and excitement on the song ‘ Deepawali sang Khushiyan’ choreographed entirely by themselves.
The Nukkad Natak was also conducted in the school premises to spread awareness among the children to celebrate- ‘Green Diwali’. ‘NukkadNatak’ reiterated that we should keep our environment pollution free by not bursting crackers.
Trip to Ranthambore and Jim Corbett
A three-day educational tour to Ranthambore National Park Jim Corbett National Park for the students of class VIII was organized from 1st to 3rd October 2022. The students were taken for an adventurous plunge to jungle safari, which enabled them to appreciate the rich variety of flora and fauna. The students were taken for a safari ride to the Tiger Reserve which was a thrilling experience for them. The keen learners spotted many wild animals and interacted with experienced guides to gain further insight into wild life. Students visited Dastkar, an Indian non-government organization working with craftsmen across India for promotion and revival of traditional craftwork as well as Ranthambore School of Art where artists showcase their creativity through drawing and painting related to portraits of tiger.
An Inter House ‘Rangoli’ competition for the students of classes IX and XII was held on 13th October, 2022 to celebrate our culture during the festive season. Each house had a team comprising of six members. The students participated with immense zeal and enthusiasm to create bright and colourful rangoli. Students used eco-friendly materials and flowers to showcase their creative skills.
The INTACH Club of Maharana Mewar Public school organised a Philately Exhibition for classes 6 to 12 on August30, 2022. The organizers of the event were Dr Pushpa Khamesra and Mr. Ravi Khamesra. The highlights of the exhibition were the first stamp of the World and India.
10th September
As a part of nutrition month, Inter house Recipe competition was organised on 10/9/22. Two students from each house participated in junior and senior category respectively. Students made recipes with the locally available Millets like Ragi, Maize, Sama, jawar etc.Chef Radheyshyam & Ms Anchal Saxena were the judges of the competition. The recipes were judged on the basis of originality, taste & presentation. Ms Pratima Paliwal organised the event.
23rd September
Sanjhi…. locally known as Sanjya is a traditional art form of Mewar which is now getting endangered. Sanjhior Sanjya is made only during ShradhPaksh on the outer walls of houses. It is made with geru, cow dung & decorated with flowers, grains etc. Interestingly, it is made by unmarried girls only. To revive the endangered art form, an initiative was taken by Jadgish temple. Students of INTACH HERITAGE CLUB of Maharana Mewar Public school along with club incharge Pratima Paliwal visited Jagdish Temple to know about Sanjhi. Students also made Sanjhi on the walls of temple.
The heritage club students of Oxford Grammar High School, Pracheena Heritage Club students conducted Swadesh Pradarshan on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav to create awareness to students on the diversity and inclusion of various states in India.
INTACH Nagpur Chapter has recently established its 17th Heritage Club at Aspire International School, Nagpur with great grandeur. A welcome song and dance by the students set the ball rolling and was followed by the introduction of the chief guests Dr. Mini Deshmukh the principal of Podar International School, Dr. Pramod Deshmukh, coordinator, INTACH local Chapter convener Dr. Madhura Rathod and co-convener Architect Nikita Ramani. 'The fervent enlivening guests were a source of inspiration and personification of love for our culture and heritage'-said the School Principal Mrs. Rashmi Shendre.
Heritage club students were given the Club badges and passports. The whole atmosphere was infused with pride in our culture and heritage. The ceremony ended with the heritage pledge and tree plantation. The beacon lights Captain Unnikrishnan and Principal Mrs. Rashmi Shendre appreciated the initiatives taken by the club in charge Ramkumari Karnahke and students who made the event successful.
INTACH Nagpur Chapter established yet another Heritage Club at Saint Francis de Sales High School and Junior College, Nagpur, with great grandeur.
A welcome song, skit and dance showcasing the cultural aspects of various states set the ball rolling. 30 students from class 6th to 8th became members of a heritage club. The installation was attended by INTACH Nagpur Chapter, Convenor Dr. Madhura Rathod, Co-Convenor Ar. Nitika S. Ramani, SFS Principal-Father Prashant, Vice Principal - Sister Shyne and Supervisor Mr. Suham.Heritage club students were given club badges and passports.
The ceremony ended with the heritage pledge by Ar. Nitika S. Ramani. The club's in-charge teachers, Mrs Diana Francis and Mrs. Uma Manyan's efforts along with the students made the event successful.
World Peace Day was celebrated on 6th August 2022 with secondary students. Students decorated their homerooms by creating different kinds of poster’s. They actively engaged themselves to spread the message of peace. Each class expressed their message creatively. We could see their intelligence at work. Grade 10 came up with "Pinwheels for peace" Origami doves/birds were prepared in the class. Grade 9 came up with an impressive poster with different kinds of quotes. They celebrated the day to mark the remembrance of Hiroshima Day.
The morning of 15th August 2022 witnessed a patriotic environment all around the campus of the school. To sensitise the students about the significance of this day and to enable them to know the sacrifices made by our great leaders, a wonderful programme was organised in the school. The tricolour dress code raised high spirits among all the members of GIIS. To commemorate this auspicious day, the school principal, Dr. D Lakshmi Prasanna hoisted the national flag with great pride and honour. A musical tribute to our nation through our school choir and music band was praiseworthy and spectacular.
Students participated in a speak up competition with primary school students, a freedom walk, painting competition (Unity in Diversity) for grades 1 and 2 and another painting competition for grades 3 and 5 with the theme India in future 2040 for grade 6th to 8th. Classes 9th and 10th conducted a debate competition and poster making.

Delhi Public School, Sector 45 in Gurgaon conducted many heritage club activities in their school in the month of August for Junior school teachers. International Day of the World’s Indigenous People. The students of class 3 were acquainted with the different tribes living all across the world and India. They made the logo of the ‘International Day of Indigenous People’. To celebrate the 75 years of India’s Independence, a quiz was organized for the middle school students on the topic- ‘Incredible India’ on 8th August 2022. The school celebrated Independence Day on 15th August, 2022 in the school grounds, with the staff, students and parents. The programme commenced with flag hoisting by Director Principal Ms. Aditi Misra, the Head Council and the school alumni. The students also flew tricolored kites to commemorate the occasion. Students of class 5 made posters and illustrations on the topic ‘Happy Independence Day – Har Ghar Tiranga’. An annual show portraying the struggle of the freedom fighters was presented by the students of Class IV with great enthusiasm.
The festival of Janmashtami was commemorated through a special assembly for the students of Junior School. Importance of rain water harvesting was taught, an informative and engaging video was shown to Junior school students which was followed by an interactive quiz. The INTACH school group organized an activity for the students of Middle School based on the theme- ‘Alluring Cultural Heritage of Bihar’. A stamp making activity was conducted for the students wherein they researched about the beautiful monuments and famous buildings of Bihar and then illustrated them by making creative postal stamps
The Heritage club of MGM Central Public School, Trivandrum, organised an exhibition 'Thakshak, an insight into our cultural heritage' in the school auditorium on 27th June, 2022. Students from KG to Grade 12 contributed various exhibits for this exhibition. The Heritage Club endeavours to inculcate a feeling of pride and love for the rich cultural legacy left behind by our ancestors. It is a laboratory to explore the linkages between different subjects and create a platform for an interrelated approach to education. Keeping all the aims in mind, the Department of Social Science and students of MGM CPS TRIVANDRUM conducted an exhibition. The Exhibition was designed so as to involve the students in various activities geared towards heritage awareness and learning about the ancient past.

A student from St Kabir’s School conducted an interview with Azad Khanda as a part of their Heritage Activity within the club. The interview was to learn more regarding the culture, tradition and patrimony displayed in Haryana through folk music of Haryana more commonly known as raginis.
The interview traced the history of the ragini singer and what inspired them to pursue this art. The students asked pertinent questions about their practice and art and how the pandemic impacted their work and income. The student inquired about the awards and accolades that the esteemed singer has garnered over the years and about the future of the art moving forward. The artiste graciously answered all the questions presented and concluded the interview on a positive note of not being demotivated once they are on this path of ragini singing.
Class 3 To highlight and raise awareness on the significance of ‘Van Mahotsava’ among the young generation and inspire them to plant more trees, a poster making activity was conducted wherein the students were encouraged to preserve trees which play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance.
Class 6As UNO has declared 11th July to be celebrated as World Population Day, an activity was conducted for the same to spread the awareness about the exploding world population and related population issues. The students showcased their creativity by making colourful posters on World Population Day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues.
Rakhi Making Activity Raksha Bandhan symbolises the true love and bond between brothers and sisters. To commemorate this festival, a Rakhi Making Activity was organized for the students of the Junior Wing. Students showcased their talent by making beautiful and colourful hand-made Rakhi using craft and eco-friendly material. The creative rakhis were sent along with heartfelt messages to the soldiers posted at the borders. The students expressed their love and gratitude towards the soldiers through this wonderful initiative.
The INTACH school group of DPS Gurgaon organised an activity, on 20th July 2022, for the students of Middle School based on the theme ‘Botanical Folklore of India’. Trees play a significant role in human life. They are revered in the Indian culture for their numerous fine attributes. Exploring more about the plants as well as trees of our country, students of classes VI to VIII prepared creative write-ups on prominent Indian trees wherein they mentioned important facts, myths and medicinal value of various trees. Some of the students presented a hypothetical interview with the trees. Students enjoyed and learnt many new and intriguing facts about the plant kingdom through this interesting activity.
MUSIC AND DANCE FEST
An Inter-House dance and music fest was held on 21st July 2022 at DPS Gurgaon, for the students of classes VII and VIII. The event resonated with spirited rhythm, songs and enthralling dance performances setting an electrifying ambience. The six houses presented their awe inspiring performances on the theme, One India…..My India. True to the theme, the vivacious dancers and singers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and this was a reflection of their passion and hard work. The choreography, rhythm, synchronization and presentation of all the students were very good. The judges congratulated and appreciated the performance of all the budding artists.
The Oxford Grammar School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2002. The day was celebrated to make Yoga a part of their routine life to stay healthy and fit. The Yoga instructors demonstrated a few asanas and helped students perform it. All the students enthusiastically participated in the activity.
Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurgaon, in collaboration with the Spic Macay Society, hosted a 'Kathak Dance Performance'. Ms Vidha Lal, a multi-faceted Kathak artiste and a Guinness World Record holder for taking 103 spins in 60 sec, graced the occasion. Ms Lal is a disciple of the Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Guru Smt. Geetanjali Lal Ji of Jaipur Gharana. Director Principal, Ms. Aditi Misra, felicitated Ms. Lal and her entourage, Mr Amaan Ali, Mr Ahsan Ali and Mr Shueb Hasan. She also welcomed, Spic Macay Gurgaon Coordinator, Ms Rupi Mahindroo. Ms Misra, a dance enthusiast herself, said that any form of choreography helps one understand, not just the historical value and the place of origin of the same, but also narrates a beautiful story to the audience. She further urged the students to practice dance, as it's a good form of exercise as well as a stress buster.
Ms Vidha Lal enthralled the audience with her hand motions, intricate footwork and face expressions. Her dance form is not only the quintessence of sweetness, beauty and power of our culture, but it is also a prayer and meditation, attracting divine peace of mind. The students of classes VI-IX got an opportunity to witness the phenomenal rendition. They got a better understanding of the various stages that one is ushered through while learning Kathak, along with the nuances of the Jaipur Gharana repertoire. This was followed by an informative and delightful interaction between the artiste and the young learners. While answering the students' queries, Ms Vidha Lal reiterated that classical dance is an intrinsic part of Indian culture and teaches children about the rich literary and cultural heritage of India. The event culminated with an enriched and rejuvenated audience.
To facilitate the collaborative efforts and enhance the analytical skills among students, block printing activity was conducted wherein a PPT was shared, for students to explore the procedure of block printing. In this fun and hands on activity, children created their own motifs and patterns as well as explored the principles of repetition, pattern scale and symmetry. Students listed the advantages of using natural dyes over synthetic dyes as well as understood the cultural significance of block printing.
To spread awareness about the need to protect the environment and the ways to do it, an online special assembly was conducted on Saturday, 4th June 2022 in Middle School on the occasion of ‘World Environment Day.’ The assembly commenced with a prayer followed by the understanding of the concept, ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’ which is the theme of ‘World Environment Day 2022'. Later, children shared thought-provoking ideas to save and replenish the environment. The assembly culminated with a song on the importance of environment.
To mark The World environment Day, Prabha Khaitan Foundation in association with WWF organised a virtual nature trail on 3rd June, 2022. The session was attended by students and teachers of middle school. The resource person emphasized on the importance of healing and saving nature rather than harming it. The session showcased various videos to observe and connect with nature and was followed by a quiz related to environment. It was an interactive and informative session and helped to appreciate environment.
INTACH Varanasi Institutional member Sant Atulanand Residential Academy with support from INTACH Varanasi Chapter organised summer camp in the end of May. The closing ceremony of summer camp was organised on Tuesday, June 3, 2022 at school premises. A grand ceremony was organised where cultural programme was held along with exhibition of all the articles and items prepared by students was held.
The INTACH Varanasi members led by Mr. Ashok Kapoor Convener were invited as guests. Mr. Ashok Kapoor Convener was Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr Nirmal Joshi and Mr Anil Keshari, Addl Co Conveners, Mrs Anjila Agrawal Coordinator Heritage walk cell, Mrs Shalini Deva, Coordinator ICH cell were present along with Dr Mrs Divya Singh, Life member and Director of the school. Mr. Ashok Kapoor congratulated the school management for such a successful camp and assured to collaborate in such meaningful projects. Dr Divya Singh felicitated Convener and all the senior members of Varanasi Chapter. It was decided that INTACH Varanasi Chapter and Sant Atulanand Residential Academy will work together for conserving Natural Heritage in the school premises and nearby areas. An institute based in USA will support the initiative. The Natural Heritage Division of INTACH DELHI is also being approached to give advice.
Keeping in view the mission of INTACH to conserve our heritage, sensitize the young minds about our pluralistic cultural legacy and also to instill a sense of responsibility towards preserving our values, traditions and heritage, a host of activities were conducted by the Junior School for classes 3, 4 and 5.
Mother’s/Father’s Day Craft- Children of junior school expressed their love and gratitude for parents by making a beautiful Fries Box. The beautiful red hollow Fries box was pasted on their art file with fries inserted in it. Each fry had a message/quality of parent written on it. Children displayed immense enthusiasm and had a lot of fun doing this activity.
Family Day- On this occasion the class 3 students enthusiastically expressed the love for their family by making a family tree to show all its members. This activity also augmented their knowledge about their ancestors and their precious inheritances from the past. Keeping in tandem the following activities were conducted:
Classes 4 and 5 Students made beautiful and colourful posters on ‘My Family’ using Worli art. This activity not only brought to the fore their artistic talent, but also inculcated the spirit of love and dedication for their family.
Museum Day: To raise awareness about how important museums are in the development of society, a video on important museums was shown to children of classes 3, 4 and 5. Children also showcased their creative talents by making beautiful ‘Best out of waste’ items like pen/pencil holder, flower pots, stick puppets, photo frames etc.
Cultural Diversity Day: Students of Junior School were apprised of some commonly used words in different languages, spoken in different parts of the world. Children also engaged themselves in learning to pronounce these words in different languages including their own mother tongue. It was a fun and enriching experience for our junior crusaders.
Museum Day
On 9th May 2022, the INTACH members of DPS Gurgaon organised an activity, ‘Mesmerizing Museums’ for the students of Middle School on the occasion of ‘World Museum Day’ showcasing their creativity, students designed a comic strip depicting the importance of museums and their role in the preservation of culture. They were also asked to sketch pictures of any two artefacts out of the ones they had observed on their visit to the museum. Students learnt the significance of Museum Day in creating and spreading awareness about the role of museums, fostering a better understanding of the historical richness of the various cultures around the world.
Mother’s Day/ Father’s Day Card Makingactivity
Celebrated in the month of June, Students of classes VI, VII and VIII made beautiful cards for their mothers and fathers as a token of love and appreciation for all that their parents do for them. Their excitement and enthusiasm was evident as they made colourful and attractive cards. The activity gave the students an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills while expressing their feelings and gratitude for their parents.
The Heritage Club members of Oxford Grammar School, Pracheena went for heritage walk on the occasion of world heritage day i.e 18th April and on 24th April to create awareness to protect heritage monuments and also know it's history.
On the occasion of the Earth Day, the students of Class 3 showcased their creativity by drawing beautiful badges of Cleaner and a Greener Earth and learnt different ways to save and protect trees. They also took great interest in the activity ‘Trees- Our Green Friends’ wherein they enlisted all the things which we get from trees. The activities helped them realize that each one is responsible for protecting Our Mother Earth.
Classes 4 and 5 Students made eye catching illustrations on Value of trees. They wrote a poem on Mother Earth and shared on why it is important to take care of our Mother Earth.
World Heritage Day was celebrated with an aim to raise awareness of the importance of heritage preservation for sustainable development. Constructive activities like Poster Making, Book Mark of the Monuments enlightened the students about the value and significance the world’s heritage holds.
Earth Day –To educate and motivate the children to care for Mother Earth, a plethora of activities like making an Earth Day mobile and finger puppet of the tree were conducted for the young learners. A video was shown to convey the value of little things that each one of us can do in order to take care of our Earth followed by the song 'Earth is home to you and me’. The activities culminated a sense of responsibility in the students for preserving ‘The Blue Planet’. They pledged to take care of it so that we can have a safe future where our natural resources are in abundance.
Bird feeder activity- Children of classes 4 and 5 showcased their creative talent and made beautiful bird bath and bird feeders. The young children enthusiastically hung their bird feeders in their balconies and garden where they observed the birds coming and feeding themselves.
Baisakhi Assembly
A special assembly was conducted on Baisakhi, the harvest festival, on 13th April, 2022 with much enthusiasm and gusto. The significance of Baisakhi heralding the beginning of the summer season was highlighted by a skit explaining that Baisakhi also commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. The skit was followed by a vibrant foot tapping Punjabi dance which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Students also presented a poem on the occasion of Baisakhi. The students were thrilled to witness a grand assembly as it was altogether a new experience for them.
On 6th April 2022, the INTACH school group organized an activity for the students of the Middle School, on the occasion of the World Heritage Day. The topic for the activity was – ‘Fascinating Forts of India’. Children made beautiful pencil sketches and paintings of various Forts of India. They also wrote self-composed poems and write-ups highlighting the facts, myths and architectural features of the forts chosen. The activity allowed the students to showcase their creativity. Students learnt a lot about ancient forts of India, which are a testimonial to our rich and varied heritage.
Earth Day Assembly
A special assembly was conducted on Thursday, 22nd April 2021 in Middle School to mark the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day. The assembly commenced with the Morning Prayer. The children highlighted the importance of protecting and preserving the green planet by emphasizing the 3 R’s. It emphasized on observing each day as Earth Day. Thought provoking messages were conveyed to children to inform how small steps taken by us can contribute to protect our planet. The students as well as teachers pledged to take care of Mother Earth and to keep their environment clean and green.
Earth Day
The club celebrated the theme of Soil Conservation on the occasion of Earth day .classes IXth and Xth participated in the event enthusiastically. They discussed about the availability of soil in India, its types, causes of its degradation and ways to conserve it. The presentation was done in the form of posters, charts, power point presentation; role plays to name a few. It was also inter disciplinary as it connected with History, Biology, and Economics etc. The activity was thoroughly enjoyed wherein the children collaborated and used life skills.
The festival of Basant Panchami was celebrated with great fervour all over the country and to inculcate the same enthusiasm among the students, an informative assembly with the story and facts behind the festival was conducted for the students of classes III, IV and V. To develop life skills and add the festive flavour to their learning a ‘Cooking without fire’ activity was organized for the students of Junior School. The students prepared ‘peda’ or any other yellow colour food item of their choice and presented in their own creative ways. The activity engaged them gainfully and they immensely enjoyed their creativity.
The INTACH Gurgaon chapter organized an online talk on heritage art with a focus on mural paintings of India on 5th February, 2022. The session was attended by Ms. Madhumita Nandi and Ms. Poonam Sood. The event began with the welcome address by Ms. Yasmin Contractor, Convenor, INTACH Gurgaon Chapter. The speaker was Mr. BenoyBehl, art-historian, photographer and film-maker known for his work in documenting the art heritage of India. The talk was profusely illustrated by his well-known photographs, including the scarcely-seen ancient murals. His passion for photography is reflected in every painting that he explained beautifully. In his talk he revealed the true beauty of the finest surviving paintings from the Ajanta caves. He gave a full exposure to the grace and the compassion contained in Indian art. The lecture broadened the perceptions of the tradition of mural painting in the sub-continent. It was an informative and enriching session, giving glimpse into the rich heritage of India.
INTACH Filmit Delhi Festival was held virtually on 11th February 2022 where schools were awarded for their efforts. Students from over 30 schools of National Capital Region were part of the project this year. Students of DPS, Gurgaon won prizes in following two categories:
1. Best Direction and Overall Best Film Trophy for- ‘Native Language’ made by
Akshara Madan and Shubhang Bhardwaj of class VII.
2. Best Screenplay for the film- ‘Recreation’ made by Shivam Ghosh and Shreyash Gupta of
class VIII.
A special assembly on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day was conducted for the Junior and Middle School on 25th January 2022, through an online platform. A plethora of activities was organised to infuse the spirit of unity, brotherhood and patriotism among the students. Students made posters on the topic-Unity in diversity’ with the innate nationalistic spirit. Through the poster, it was clearly explained how people of different religions, creeds, castes, languages, cultures, lifestyles, faith in God, rituals of worship, live together with each other in India. A Powerpoint presentation also highlighted the country-wide Republic Day celebrations. It was an interesting activity wherein students not only learnt the importance of Unity in Diversity but also learnt about the state of togetherness despite the presence of infinite diversity.
An extremely informative as well as interesting session on the Indian Constitution was conducted for students of grades 9th and 11th during their academic slots. Learners were engaged in thought-provoking activities like deliberating on the ideas set forth in the Preamble, their relevance in ensuring growth and development of the nation and in balancing the socio-economic interests of various segments of the society. Students read the Preamble and discussed the aims and objectives set forth in the Constitution of India. They presented their opinion on the government policies encapsulating the objectives laid down in the Constitution of India as the Directive Principles of State Policy.
An Interactive session on Ahad Civilisation ‘FIRST FARMERS OF MEWAR’ was organised by INTACH Heritage Club of Maharana Mewar Public School on January 7, 2022. The session was followed by Makar Sakranti celebration as well. The Chief Guest was Prof. Lalit Pandey- Convener INTACH Udaipur Chapter. Prof. Pandey highlighted the main features & finds of Ahad Civilisation. The programme was conducted by Himanshi Kothari. Nishtha Seth & B. Manoj Kumar gave a presentation on Forts of Rajasthan. Sarrah Alam Shah & Varuni Gaur gave a presentation on Makar Sakranti.Blessings were given by Principal Mr. Sanjay Datta. The vote of Thanks was given by Club President Varuni Gaur.
