NatIoN’S PrIDe

      NATIoNAL SYMBoLS
The national bird and animal are designated representatives of the country’s
fauna. They are chosen based on their symbolism, the values that they hold,
their prominence in the cultural history and traditions of the country, as well
as their place in legends and myths. Other important elements are that it
should be indigenous in nature, and well-distributed in the country.

      STATE SYMBoLS

In a country with so much diversity, simply
having a national animal and bird is not enough
to do justice to the variety that thrives here. For
this reason, India also has animals and birds that
represent the wildlife of each state.
Let’s find out more about them.
